Thank you Doctor for your response. Since my original post I had an
appointment with the thorcic surgeon at the Hershey Medical Center in
Hershey,Pa. He scrolled though the CT disc slice by slice and he seems to believe it is an osteophyte. He brought it before the tumor board and they
agreed with him, however they are going to do a rescan in couple of months.He said he would approach from the posterior and claims that
it would not be that difficult to remove but he would only operate if it was apparent that it will give me trouble.

An osteochondroma is a benign tumour and does not generally require removal unless there are specific indications. When suggested, the surgical approach would depend on the position of the lesion and is best discussed with your treating surgeon. At the costo-vertebral junction a posterior/ postero-lateral approach may be preferred.
