"Breakfast can be a bit of a challenge for people with diabetes since most of the traditional choices like cereal, milk, juice and fruit are carbohydrate heavy," adds Madeleine Said, a certified diabetes educator and registered dietitian. "It's important to include carbohydrates but also important to add some protein and healthy fat to keep blood sugar from rising too quickly."
