This medication is used to treat a certain type of skin condition called rosacea. It helps to reduce the number of pimples and bumps on the face, but it may not decrease redness. Doxycycline belongs to the class of antibiotics known as tetracyclines. It works by stopping the growth of bacteria that may worsen rosacea. This product is not approved to treat other types of bacterial infections. In addition, it will not work for viral infections (e.g., common cold, flu). Unnecessary use or misuse of any antibiotic can lead to its decreased effectiveness.
