If you miss a dose, use it as soon as you remember. If it is near the time of the next dose, skip the missed dose and resume your usual dosing schedule. Do not double the dose to catch up.

Follow all instructions for proper wound care and the use of this product. Consult your doctor, podiatrist, nurse, or pharmacist for more details. Apply this product directly to the treated wound with each dressing change, usually 1 to 2 times a day or as directed by your doctor or podiatrist. Avoid cleansing with hydrogen peroxide. The papain in this product may become less effective if combined with hydrogen peroxide. This product is for use on the skin only. Avoid getting this product in the eyes, nose, or mouth. If this occurs, flush with plenty of water. If irritation occurs, contact your doctor immediately. This product comes in many different forms. If you are using a spray or foam, some bottles need to be shaken before using, and some need to be primed (prepared before use) by spraying into the air a certain number of times. Check the label of your product for any special instructions. If you have questions about how to use your product, ask your pharmacist. Dosage is based on your medical condition and response to treatment. Use this medication regularly to get the most benefit from it. To help you remember, use it at the same time(s) each day. Tell your doctor if your condition persists or worsens or if you notice increasing redness/tenderness of the skin around the wound.

Your doctor or pharmacist may already be aware of any possible drug interactions and may be monitoring you for them. Do not start, stop, or change the dosage of any medicine before checking with your doctor or pharmacist first. Before using this medication, tell your doctor or pharmacist of all prescription and nonprescription/herbal products you may use, especially of: hydrogen peroxide, skin products that contain metals such as silver/lead/mercury (e.g., silver nitrate, silver sulfadiazine). Before using this product, tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are allergic to papain, urea, or chlorophyllin; or if you have any other allergies. This product may contain inactive ingredients, which can cause allergic reactions or other problems. Talk to your pharmacist for more details. Before using this medication, tell your doctor or pharmacist your medical history. During pregnancy, this medication should be used only when clearly needed. Discuss the risks and benefits with your doctor. It is not known whether this drug passes into breast milk. Consult your doctor before breast-feeding.

Different brands of this medication may have different storage requirements. Refer to the package labeling or ask your pharmacist for the storage requirements for the brand you are using. Do not store in the bathroom. Keep all medicines away from children and pets. Store the foam canister upright at room temperature. Do not freeze. Do not store at temperatures above 120 degrees F (49 degrees C). The contents of this container are under pressure. Do not burn or puncture the aerosol container. Keep all medicines away from children and pets. Do not flush medications down the toilet or pour them into a drain unless instructed to do so. Properly discard this product when it is expired or no longer needed. Consult your pharmacist or local waste disposal company for more details about how to safely discard your product.

Burning or irritation of the treated area may occur. If any of these effects persist or worsen, tell your doctor or pharmacist promptly. Remember that your doctor has prescribed this medication because he or she has judged that the benefit to you is greater than the risk of side effects. Many people using this medication do not have serious side effects. A very serious allergic reaction to this drug is rare. However, seek immediate medical attention if you notice any symptoms of a serious allergic reaction, including: rash, itching/swelling (especially of the face/tongue/throat), severe dizziness, trouble breathing.
