MYTH: Exercise Lowers Fertility

Exercise is one of the best things you can do for your health — and that remains true if you’re trying to get pregnant. Why is exercise so important? It helps prepare your body for the many changes that come with pregnancy; it can impact the hormonal balance in your body in a way that increases your odds of conception; and it can make you feel good both physically and mentally. It’s best to strike a balance, though. Aim for 30 minutes of moderate exercise 5 days a week. And always check with your doctor to be sure that exercise is safe for your pregnancy; if you have certain complications, you may need to skip it or take special precautions.
