Could I be immuned to hydrocodone/apap

by Diane Forrest, Sep 02, 1999 12:00AM
After having 2 operations in five months on my right knee for A MENISCAL TEAR.Could i have built up an immunity to this drug? I was informed enough about this medication to only take it when the pain was intolerable.I am still having problems with my knee, but the medication doesn't seem to help the pain. What can I do???

Lets get real, in this case, this young lady is frusterated because she has developed a tolerance, and should be given 10mg/325 apap.

However, the fact remains that just because one has a license, they know what they are talking about.

Hydrocodone is not to be used only when the pain is excruciating.

It is most effective when taken evry 4 to 6 hours, to prevent pain from becoming excruciating, but Dr. Butthead doesn't want and (I'm sure your prescribing physician as well) don't want to write prescriptions for narcotics because think DEA will raise an eybrow.  They are a problem which is all too common in medicine today.

look for the Hipocrates site on the

web!  if you are in pain you are under

medicated.  plan and simple.

My husband was in a Accident 1 year and 1/2 ago, broke many bones. He  takes Hydrocodone/apap 5/500 tab. all this time. i think he do not need any more but he claimed that he have pain. Can it be true or is he  addicted

hydrocodone is pretty weak after taking stronger narcotics, but is addictive. Sometimes I have to restain myself from commenting on peoples "vicodin withdrawls". I've been hooked on it and kicked it, it wasn't fun but nothing like IV dilaudid or heroin. all the best
