I am not a doctor so take this for what its worth, I only speak from experience of going through alcohol withdrawal several times over the past three months.
The best thing to take for alcohol withdrawal from what I have learned is Librium. You need a prescription for that. You may want to spend your own money for a doctors visit and tell him you are withdrawing. Day-8 is kinda late, and you may already be past the worst of it. My worst days are usually 4-7, but the symptoms linger into day-10 but not as severe.
If you drink again, even one day, you will only prolong and aggravate the withdrawal. I learned that the hard way!
Oh, I believe I may have misread your statement. I thought you meant day-8 since your last drink, but then it dawned on me you you may be saying you drank for 8 straight days and are now withdrawing. If that is the case and you are already feeling terrible, and not just from a raging hangover, then you definately should see a doctor right away.
You did not mention whether you are a heavy drinker or not.
