Unuaual effects on my body

by johnathon, May 24, 2000 12:00AM
I am 25 years old and have been a social drinker for about 10 years.  I don't smoke, but have experimented with some drugs.  I've been on Ritalin for about 8 years (30-40mg a day), and work out regularly.

In the last 6 months or so, I've been experienceing a strange "hangover" effect late in the next day after a night of drinking.  I get an annoying tightness on the left side of my mid-lower back, almost a like a cramp in my lat, but more like a steady tightening.  There is no pain, but it is very annoying.  It is not always in the exact some spot, but in the same vicinty. What might causing this and how can I deal with it?

I think you should go see a doctor and that this has nothing to do with your drinking socially. (but, if you're drinking everyday, then maybe.)

Sounds like alcohol withdrawal symptoms. Tightening of the chest and difficulty breathing are typical. If you find you take a couple of stiff drinks and that anoying feeling goes away, then you have your answer.
