I recently hust my back and took two vicodin for the pain.  I just found out that I have to take a drug test.  How long does vicodin stay in the system?

It'll show up in your system for 3 - 5 days.  If you have a prescription bottle from a doctor though, it should not be considered drug abuse.

I believe that Vicodin has a half life of 50%.  (At least that's what a doctor told me)  And I wouldn't worry too much about taking only two pills.

Good luck!

not to scare you, but for what it's worth, here's a drug-test horror story for everyone: a friend of mine was already working at a company when they switched medical insurance carriers. Everyone had to take a drug screen before they could sign up for the new insurance. My friend had a digestive disorder for which he took a prescribed med with a little Librium in it. He brought the bottle in to the test and they noted it on his paper work. Days later, as he is sitting at his desk, the security guards marched into his office and escorted him bodily off the premises. He had to hire a lawyer and pay for another drug test in order to get his job back. Believe it or not.
