possible after effects of pot smoking

by Bobby, Oct 07, 2000 12:00AM
I seemed to be having a problem now. I was only smoking for about 4 months, but at least 9 to 14 joints aday. I recently stopped about 2 weeks now, and I noticed while I was smoking, my veins were burning and rising up againest the skin. But when I finally quit, I started having pains in my veins or joint areas.

Sometimes really sharp, in some joint areas the pain actually left little lite red marks. The joint that hurt the most are the big toe, knee cap, and under the forearm.

I'm really worried about this, could it be side effects of withdrawl, or a lasting effect, or maybe something different.

Please help, what can it be?

maybe you were so high, one night you fell down the stairs and don't remember.  Take Care of yourself.  Sorry I couldn't help, I've never heard of such a thing.  I know pot hasn't killed anybody in 500,000 years.  Pills have.

my guess is, this is a problem unrelated to pot that you're just now noticing because you're not high. 14 joints a day. woo. That's a lot of pot.

Maybe your weed was contaminated, Bobby.  Sounds to me like a reaction to something that was put in it.  That's scary.  I hope you will recover and that it is just temporary.

You could have arthritus or something else.  You really can't get a good evaluation unless you are seen.  Check my spelling and check out sites on the topic of arthritus.

I have a friend (no it's not me) who lives in West Virginia.  She recently was busted ( 2 guys came to her house with I/D.'s) for growing a couple of plants of weed in her back yard.  Of course they took the plants and questioned her and said she would hear something around or about the 23rd.  My question is what are the ramifications of what she did?  She is a housewife with 2 kids living with her boyfriend. She has never been in trouble with the law. She thinks her ex ratted on her.  Thanks for all who advise.

I think there are alot more serious crimes out there than smoking pot.  I have heard it is good for the digestive system and the eyes.  Of course, smoking anything will cause cancer.  I know several people smoke pot and I know several people who drink and I know one thing, I would much rather be around someone who is high from smoking a joint than someone who is drunk.

OH PLEASE!!!!!

Actually, I have a lot more to say.  Our own government drug czar Barry McCaffrey did a study hoping to prove that marijuana was more harmful than people thought, blah blah blah, and guess what?  The only thing he found harmful was the respiratory problems that go along with inhaling.  In addition, he found there were actual medical benefits as stated by Christina above.  It is amazing how cigarettes are legal and huge money makers for this country while killing people and providing NO medical benefits, while a natural herb that was put on this earth by God, and is used in its natural state AND has been proven by the government to be effective in glaucoma and helping people with aids and cancer gain wait and reduce nausea IS ILLEGAL and subject to prison.  The same people who want to stop California and Arizona from implementing programs that were approved overwhelmingly by their own voting constituents are probably downing a few martinis right now and smoking a cigar.  Lets see...Smoking cigarettes causes cancer, heavy drinkers begin  to look like Clinton, and can cause death or die by drinking, and you two are worried about pot!!!!  I think we should immediatly stop concerning ourselves with people who want to die because they are addicted to heroin, or are suffering horrible pain with or without medication, stop caring about cocaine addicted mothers, and just focus on someone smoking a joint that could cough too much.  My god.

I grew up in Huntington WV and I don't think they would cut off her breasts for it there, but possibly in the hills or maybe in the pithole of wheeling.  Actually, Huntington totally rocked.  Home of Marshall University(yeah thundering herd) I remember fondly drinking beer with quaaludes floating in them at the k & k saloon in kenova W.V.  I guess that's where my addiction started.  Oh well.

God also put piosoness plants on this earth that could kill you eaven if you took one lick. Should we conclude then that all plants and herbs are good for us. I was smoking pot from 1975-1985 very heavy. I lived in Ft. Pierce, FL then and pot was cheaper than cigaretts. I stayed high all day and for years on end. I don't eaven remember some years. With long hair and hippy beads and floppy mountain hat I was your treu hippy. Now I an not saying that no one should smoke pot, but it is not good for every one. I abused it, and now sufering from that. I have no short term memory(that is not proven be a side efect from pot)and I am very withdrawn. I could not do anything during those years. Yet I knew people who smoked pot  (school teachers, phyciatrists) and they were fine with it. My advice for what it is worth is. Really be carefull with that stuff it is still a drug and it can really mess you up. I really don't think it is addicting. I stoped cold turkey and had no side efects exept mentally. But I am adicted to pain meds now which I think is derectly linked to my years using pot. This is a bigger problem and one that many who start off as pot smokers face. I am getting these drugr from a doctor, but most get them elegaly. That is the biggest risk. Pot can (and most often does) lead to other drugs.

So just please be carefull. My life is so up and down now because of this drug habit. Don't put yourself at risk.

Yes, I can see where it has messed you up.  However, I believe anything done in moderation is what the message should be.  Should you smoke an ounce of pot a day?  Of course not.  Is there something wrong with a joint a day? Maybe not.  I am just replying to the people who posted three times that they were doing a study on the evil effects of marijuana that all of us on this board can probably think of some things worse than toking.  Yours truly, VV
