Vicodin ES withdrawal?

by JM, Dec 22, 2000 12:00AM
I have been on Vicodin ES for about a month for pain, generally taking 4 a day, taking 5 infrequently. I have gone two and three days without the drug, but I have been taking it more or less constantly for, like I said, about a month. I am concerned that I have gotten addicted. It has been 26 hours since my last injestion. I slept fitfully last night and had diarrhoea, but aside from having a low fever and being understandably exhausted, I don't feel too terrible today. T

Should I expect to feel further withdrawal symptoms? Generally, when will I know that this is withdrawal? What should I expect to happen? How long will it last? Is there anything I can do in the way of over-the-counter medication to treat this symptomatically?

any advice would be greatly appreciated.

thank you.

I've been on Vicodin ES for over two years now, and am to take no more than six per day.  I've experienced the w/drawals many times because it's sometimes a struggle to stay within the six per day, therefore running up short before next refill.  It generally takes 3-4 days for my symptoms to subside, during which I take Xanax and OTC Ibuprofen to get through it.  Since you've only been on them a month, and assuming they were  prescribed for a temporary condition, you'll likely be feeling much better very soon.

I've been taking Vicodin for a year for a severe cervical sprain. Before my last rfill I asked my doc to give me Tylenol #3 so I could taper off. Well, I didn't do that and now after one year I am going cold turkey. My joints, partucularly my legs, are in so much pain. Is going off the Vicodin in this maner safe? How long before I feel some sort of relief? My doc gave me Balacet 325 to ease the joint and muscle pain, but after 3 days of suffereing  haven't taken it yet. Should I tough it out or try the Balacet? Life as I kne it is gone and I have yet to see alight at the end of this miserable tunnel, but I don't want to give up hope. After all, I can't live on Vicodin forever, right?
