MDMA and Xanax

Just recently, I ingested a 2 mg dose of Xanax after a tense night out and wanting to just fall asleep for a few hours.  Shortly after that, my husband and I decided ( about 20 minutes) to ingest 2 doses of MDMA (ecstacy) each.  I can barely remeber the entire event.  I definitly felt the wackiness and euphoria f the MDMA but wonder whether the Xanax effected the feeling in any way, because I felt barely conscious for 6 hours, even though my husband explained I was awake and lucid the entire time.  Would the Xanax have counteracted the MDMA?  I know in the past while using MDMA and and wanting to just go to s leep, the Xanax was of no help...............

I don't know much about ecstacy.  I have never taken any, but I have of bad things related to it.  All I do know is about Xanax.  I was put on it while detoxing off of Codiene.  The whole detox thing really sucked but, but the doctors are afraid of my long term use of Xanax.  Xanax itself, can be life-threatening when abused.  I do take it at night and take more than I am supposed to.  I am afaid of all these drugs and maybe you should be also.  Being barely concious is a scary thing.  Be careful.  We in this forum can help you if you have concerns.  Neena

after a lifetime of rx-ing and what-not, I would say the Xanax did about what a bunch of booze would have done to your MDMA high -- just muddled it up. MDMA is wonderful, only needing a little pot to counteract the speed-jitter side effects. My wife and I don't use it amymore, but we have some wonderful orgiastic memories of long nights in each other's arms on good, pure MDMA.



I know the forum's for recovery talk and the like, but I had to get that in. No apologies offered to the man, either.

But I wanted to acknowledge you again and tell you how much I appreciate your contribution to this forum. You've given me hope when I had really given up, to be honest. I don't have any experience with MDMA but I heard all about it on WLS(radio)while driving home from Chicago.  Almost all of the people said that they had used it only a few times and didn't want it anymore.  The reason...you get good stuff and bad stuff.  The good stuff will put you in heaven and the bad will make you wish you hadn't messed with it at all!  Personally, I wouldn't use anything that came from unknown sources.

Back in the early 90's I lived in NTC and did a great deal of X and special K.  I had seizers related from my drug use and would wake up in ER's not knowing who I was, where I was, and what happened.  I use to be one of those not afaid to do antything to the exteme.  Not the case today.  X can and will kill you if you get the chance to live.  I know it feels good, but is it worth your life. today. And I was on all the lists to get in the best nightclubbs in NYC.  I can say, I a cout for what I was doing while I was at there places.



Hope you quit before u die or goto jail or become a ***** to drugs.



Been there, done, i don't recommend it.

This weekend has been quite the pain addicts' awareness convention!! Between Dr. Gooberman on trial and the patients pain bill of rights.  My question is:  Just because they post a sign stating patients have the right to treatment of their pain, how will doctors actually interepret it?  Does that mean, in reality, more prescribing of prescription motrin or actual pain relief.  I can't believe that automatically doctors who feared giving a dying patient codeine because they might become addicted the day before they died are suddenly going to understand all this.  What is your opinion?

My opinion is that it is all a big mess and nothing notable is going to change in the near future.  One of the most pitiful things that I have ever had to do was to place the phone near my wife so her oncologist could hear her screams of agony after radiation therapy.  He wouldn't prescribe anything but did call her radiologist who called me back several hours later to say that I could pick up a script for pain and then go to the pharmacist.  We are horrified when we hear stories about torture and inflicting pain on others, but we are not usually doctors who have over time become insensitive and paranoid about pain control either.  The pain my wife had to endure for several days to the point of going into shock was due to the fact that a hole had been burned through her colon by the radiation treatments! By the time her doctors got concerned, she was probably 36 hours from death due to peritonitis.  Damn right we sued!  But we are still bitter nonetheless.

The horrible incident with your wife is exactly what infuriates me about doctors.  Hopefully she has different doctors.  The fact that this occured while in radiation treatments is even more terrifying because I thought this was one area where even the most jaded or cowardly doctor gave full range of pain relief.  Are doctors so afraid of being sued, like in over the top cases as we read by a previous poster that they are afraid? or are they just unaware?  You are correct in the sad assumption that things will change.  Several people have mentioned keeping a pain journal, but will a doctor believe this?  Too bad there isn't a pain detector test similar to a lie detector test!!!! By the way, I see your generous contribution of six dollars did little to help this site add more question posting ability.  I guess we just have to interrupt people's threads.  I am curious, though, I go to another, music related site, and one can post a new topic at anytime, AND it is moderated!!!!!  Your comment must be related to the specific, gossip-oriented theme or it is not posted.  I can't believe there are more people that care about that tawdry site to monitor it, yet no one can take a few minutes to care about the well being of the people on the edge here?  Sorry about my soapbox.  I hope you are feeling better physically, spiritually and most of all emotionally.  Love, V

Downtown Siberia is finally getting a break!  We are going to be above freezing for the first time in weeks



When all of that happened to my wife, we ended up taking her to IU Med Center for the surgery and further treatments.  The chief of the Oncology Dept. was so pissed that he wrote letters of reprimand to the doctors involved at Ball Hospital.  Their radiology department was put on probation for several months.  Around here Ball still has a bad reputation with a lot of people even though they've revamped their entire program.



I have been keeping a pain log since October and my doctor has been reading it.  He finds the log very helpful.  He's got me on a long term series of meds right now that are really helping me painwise.  It's nice to be able to walk more than 100 feet again without having to lay down!



I think that most doctors in this state are very conservative about pain control.  What do you think?  J.B.

Hi J.B.  I am so glad the doctors wrote that letter.  I suspected you lived near that area.  We are not too far away.  As far as doctors here, or at least when I lived in the northern part of this state, pain relief is treated with prescription motrin.  I had a sprained ankle and went to a convenience clinic and I swear to God, they gave me motrin, claiming that " The best thing for me is an anti-inflamatory."  Well, O.K., how about freaking vicoprophen!!!!  When I first realized  there was something really wrong with my neck, and that the pain was not normal, I had a family doctor who was afraid to prescribe darvocet.  I did not have a pain pill until I had a ruptured cyst in an unrelated area.  I discovered not only did I like the feeling, but it also helped my pain.  I got darvocets off and on for various ailments, but it wasn't until a friend gave me some vicodin and told me the doctor she got them from that I started taking them regularly.  The doctor in question is a minority and tends to treat minority medicaid patients.  I have gotten a lot of looks, but after 10 years, It no longer bothers me.  Yes, he is notorious in my old area for "prescribing", but after having said that, I would like to state that he has also gained my respect because he is actually very good.  He has shared some personal information with me over the years and I feel he is disapointed with the way his life has turned out also.  I am sure he did not start out in medical school aiming to be a ghetto doctor.  I think that he is unfortunately a victim of a white-dominated medical society.  The medical community basically turns a blind eye to his prescribing because he is taking the burden of the welfare clients off of the other doctors hands.  When I went into rehab for vicodin, I was determined to finally go off the hydros and I told the nurses who my doctor was and everyone was, like " He gets everyone addicted."  Anyway to your question about Indiana and being conservative my answer is a resounding YES!!!!  No way in hell would I sit for six hours with these people waiting to finally see this doctor if there was no other way to be treated humanely and not a drug seeker(the polite term for addict as I read in someone's post.)  That is why I am so scared to move away.  I am afraid no other doctor, even with a referral from my current one, will treat me with pain medication.  J.B., is it just indiana or are all areas like this?  What about that widowmaker site, which actually is a strange name for a doctor refferal site?  Have you seen that?  They have a map and you can click on states that have friendly doctors.  INDIANA is the only state that does not have any!!!! I am so shocked.  Sorry this is so long.  Thanks for your time, I was pleasantly surprised that the weather was above zero degrees today.  We are in for balmy days ahead!!!!  VickyV
