I think I am dying!

Ok, maybe I am exxagerating but here's my story.  I am a 20 year old female and I have been drinking Heavily since I was 15.  I am Irish and love to drink.  I use to be able to handle my liqour but now it makes me VERY sick... I wake up in the morning and I have to stick my finger down my throat cuz i feel so bad.... My HEART hurts very bad.  Then i start getting serioulsly depressed.  My heart starts racing for no reason and i feel like im going to have a heart attack. I went out last night and between me and my friend we only had 4 pitchers! I only slept 3 hours and i woke up feeling like ****! Right now... my heart is hurting, its extrememly hard to breath and im so tired but i cant sleep... my heart is racing 2 fast.  4 days ago i did alot of cocaine and the same thing happened... i had to go to the ER cuz i thought i was going to die.  They didnt help me ofcourse... I really want to quit drinking but its so hard. Can somebody please tell me why im having the real bad effects? Why is my heart racing so fast 10 hours later? I need advice! i feel like calling an ambulance right now!  But i dont know if i should.  *Cynthia*

sounds like you should seek some medical help IMMEDIATELY!

If your heart is racing this long after the drinking I would suggest you stop till you find out what is going on. Maybe allergic to alcohol. Don't wait on the Medical exam.....

Doc, any suggestions?

Cynthia,   I woud do what Wizard suggested....get medical help now...you are only 20 years old and you are not immortal...i am not about to make any type of diagnosis  i am a nurse not a dr..but i can tell you that you need to be checked out by a physician..and you need to be totally honest or they cannot help you the right way...cardiac problems chest pain,  racing heart) etc. espcially 4 days after doing coke is nothing to play around with  do you have a history of cardiac disease?  and by puking like you are you are doing yourself some serious damage..if you don't get the help you need ASAP you may very well be dying...my thoughts are with you           good luck and keep us posted    cindi

Don't delay!  Call your doctor now!  If your doctor is not available, go to your nearest Emergency Room!

well it's me again..  Im feeling better.  I think what i was experiencing was a panic attack.... my heart is still hurting but it doesnt seem life threating.  I really need help to quit drinking.  I have been drinking almost everyday for YEARS!!! And now it seems impossible to quit.  I am leaving into the NAVY October 23rd, 2001.  I dont want drinking to prevent me from going and to ruin my health.  I am going to start going to AA every now and then and see if that helps any.  Can anybody give me some advice that can help me quit drinking?  I live in Miami Beach, Florida {South Beach} and there is nothing to do here but Party, party, party! im already going through severe depression and shake sometimes from the alcohol. I use to take PAXIL but it made me sick and extremely tired.  I couldnt get up at all out of bed and i would throw up all day.  Is there any other medication that works? that doesnt make you sick? Please respond.... Thank you so Much....

You need to find a good doctor who can help you and offer suggestions on what type of medication will work best for you.

AA is a great start, and go often, and keep on going even if you don't think it will help.  It WILL help, and if you keep going, you will soon realize that it is exactly the kind of support you need.  I think a rehab is definately in order, inpatient, if possible.  If inpatient is not possible, go to outpatient.  I am sure there are tons of good treatment centers down in that area.  I'm up about 100 miles from you, and Florida is big on rehabs.

If you have heart pains, please please stay away from Coke, that's the worst!

Please get help immediately.  See a doctor, you're too young to play around with your life like this.  You're never to young to die.

Panick attack makes one feel that they "ARE"!!! dying (VERY SCARY), very, very, unpleasant.

20 is young, so much to do and see and learn and feel.

Choose correct path NOW!!!.

Abort mission.

Choose life.

Seek help, return.

I share your Irish blood and taste for inhebriation in one form or another. But you"re in a position where, if you can find a way to stop now, you've still got some youth left to enjoy!. Try being older and being in your shape. It's not a pretty picture I see every morning while shaving. Most of all, I regret wasting youth on these drugs.

The first thing that I thought upon reading the first post in this thread was "PANIC ATTACK"!!  I didn't respond because I am new to speaking out here and heavily relying on this board to help me keep sane this first week of my stopping narcotic use.  



I've had panic attacks since I was in my 20's.  Scary, seems like death is coming soon.  I've had a few, what I call, "mini-panics" since I stopped using.  Today is a panic day.



I saved one 20mg. oxy and two 10mg.  -  I wanted to quit with them right in front of me.  I looked for them today and they are gone.  GONE!  I searched everywhere.  I think my husband took them.   He's stolen drugs from me before and lied about it. Long story - ended up in counseling - I thought that was all behind.  



Why am I so upset that my 3 little pills are gone?



Off topic-  Why can't I remember Friday?  It's as if that day was wiped from my memory totally - like Friday didn't happen. I have no recollection of it at all!  It's scaring me.



I still have Chunga's Revenge-  bowels in an uproar so to speak.  I think I will take a Bentyl.  It helps.  Still can't eat.  My positive post from yesterday -pffft.  I ate dinner last night and threw it up at 2:00am.  Still not sleeping despite Restoril.  Found one Ativan and took it.  Not that I am expecting a miracle out of 1mg.  



WHY is my memory like this? God -  I am sorry for this pathetic missive and for taking up the space on this board.  I am having a hard time remebering what day it is.  

How long is this going to last!??

Deja, first NEVER apologize for posting with a problem! That is what this forum is for. As far as Friday being a blackout, maybe you took those 3 pills yourself and didn't remember? Could be.....How long have you being trying to kick? Just my opinion here but if you are having blackouts and have run out of Ativan AND are not eating I'd suggest you seek some real medical and/or counseling immediately. I say this especially because of the Benzo withdrawals. YOU CAN"T JUST STOP those like the opiates. I think Thomas could attest to that about seizures and all. Above all else don't give up hope! But please get the immediate help you need. YOUR LIFE depends on it....

I feel so helpless to reasure you via this medium...to tell you that things can get better... and I do not want to pretend I have the answers. You have lots of issues and others here will respond better than I... they know the feelings you are having and the depth of your struggle. I would urge you to ask for help... to seek it on your own or to ask a family member to do the footwork... I will send prayers and healing energy. I do wish to tell you about Panic Attacks... my daughter is in recovery and had them profusely througout high school and this was the beginning of her addiction to xanax.. .she had them in all her revcovery programs but not during active heroin addiction... it took some years to control the panic attacks. The most recent psychiatrist told her to go get an ecg of her heart because he was suspecting the panic attacks were due to a heart condition... .it seemed a longshot... it was not.. she has prolapsed mitral valve and panic attacks are a side effect... its purely physiological. She takes a med called Inderall once a day and no longer has this panic attack disorder. The importance of this revelation is that controlling the panic attacks is important to recovery. In the past the panic attacks served as a relapse trigger.

Deja... people care.. they will help... it's good to post here but professional help is the better choice right now.

Thank you for being out there somewhere and caring, honestly.  I didn't take those pills.  I hid them - and they are gone - and I guess whatever happened to them, happened?  I don't know.  Yeah- I did take my last ativan today - I took a blazing hot shower and I feel much better now.  I was saving those pills as a statement, sort of like saying, "I can do this right in YOUR face!"  

Do you really think I am in danger now that I am out of ativan? The amount I was on was so low - 1mg a day.  I also have Restoril which I take for sleep every night. 15mg and I take 2.  They haven't been working.  I normally take Ambien but it stopped working 2 months ago and my doctor switched me to the Restoril.  Since I still have that level of benzo at night - yikes - am I going to be ok?  



My Rheumatologist still has no idea that I stopped my pain meds. I get the pleasure of telling her on Friday.  



What about Soma?  I usually take that 4 times a day for muscle spasms and I am not sure if I should refill that script.  It's not controlled and not addictive right?  The main attraction to it for a while was the buzz from mixing it with a chewed up oxy.  That didn't last long though.  No buzz for a long time.  



The Soma might help me sleep.  Any thoughts out there?
