STADOL NS

by radioboy74, Jan 07, 2002 12:00AM
Let me ask again on my own topic.  Is anyone familiar with Stadol NS?  I'm not asking as a person whom has abused or used for that fact.  I have been told to ask about this medication for my Migraines and I trust the post in this room more than any other on potential addictive meds. Please inform.

radioboy74:

i've been reluctant to address your question because i have very

little expierence with stadol. 25 years ago i was diagnosed with

migraines, so i sympathise with you. as it turns out my so called

migraines were really due to cervical spine trouble.

Ok, about what i know about stadol. a junkie nurse i knew years

ago gave me 1/2 dozen single injection vials of stadol. at the

time stadol was under any dangerious drug control. i did 4 of

the ampules in one injection. got myself zip, nothing happened!

i deemed the stuff bullshit for my "needs."

but what have you got to lose, it may work for you. all i know

is that it did absolutely nothing for me. there is just nothing

like a good vascular head ache to put me in the mood for suicide

quicker, so you do have my sympthay.

hey, I don't know a thing about stadol, however, I looked it up and in recent years it has been very much abused, they thought it didn't have much of an addictive trait, however, over the last two years, many people have become dependant on it........ plug it in to google, I got a lot of results, good luck.

hey people:

9 days no oxy. god allmighty does my neck hurt. had a real busy

day yesterday. up at 3:00 AM to see me wife to the airport, work,

swimming, and walking the dog. for all my effort all i got was

3 hours of sleep.

You know something good might happen today- if only my eyes can

see it. this detoxing isn't the best state of mind to be in, but

i believe it is the simplest- if i can only see....

Hang on! Yes, detoxing brings us down to a very basic level of feelings.  I'm cold, I'm hot , I hurt, I got the sh*ts and etc. When the dope starts to leave the body and mind, all kinds of simple thoughts and feelings begin to rush in. We are waking up!

This just isn't "normal" for us and the first thought is to take something. When we do that, we are king of the hill for a while but...are we? What are we?

Stadol was a couple years ago for me......REALLY BAD STUFF....take only for migrane....then throw it away

Ive done oxy....ETC....never felt as nasty as I did from that stuff....works fast....then you fall down fast.......not a really pleasant place to be....You'd probly be better off at the emergency room for a real bad migrane.....I get migranes that start with visuals....and a real tense feeling....the best is to lay down in the dark with asprin...or maybe a little help... with a cold cloth.....Do this as soon as possible and you can keep the migrane from building up to a big one.

Has anyone been associated with a recovery program for Stadol NS addiction? If so, which one? Did you get a benefit from this recovery program? I have terrible withdrawal symptoms after using 4 bottles of Stadol NS over a 6 to 8 day period. Is there anything that I can use to make the withdrawal symptoms less? Can anybody tell me about the Stadol NS litigations that were supposed to have begun this week?

Be very careful with Stadol....that is how my whole addiction started...... I went to the dr with a headache, he diagnosed migraine and gave me a shot....at first i felt terrible, dizzy nauseated and wished i could just sleep....but then came more shots....then the dr said that she would just have me use the nasal spray so I wouldnt have to go in for every headache. I ended up using so much of this stuff....a bottle would last a day then i would search and get more......without much a problem. I Still do use it for occasional migraines, but very occasionally like once every few months at the most. I felt like **** for a few days but no where compared to trying to get off vicoden.  Im not ready to share my story just yet....trying to think things thru. It is very refreshing to see the honesty of all the posts and the comments from Dr Steve. The hardest part of all of this addiction is that I am a nurse......and that makes the self esteem go way down, which causes drug abuse to go up, etc etc.. If you have had addictions in the past, or have an addictive personality, I would say no to the stadol ns and just go to the office and get a shot when needed. Stadol also has an thing i cant remember what its called agonist or somethng like that, same as nubain and talwin nx.   If youre already addicted to another narcotic, it can make you go into withdrawals and high at the same time.....not a pleasant high....good luck with your migraines and they do have a new triptan drug on the market....i think axert or something like that you might want to try. migraines suck, addiction sucks way worse.

good luck to all of you

Found myself addicted to stadol recently.  Was prescribed 3 bottles every month for severe migraines.  Then I hurt my back and took it for that.  Now any little pain and I hit the bottle.  It makes the pain less and I just don't care about anything so don't get upset.  The craving sucks at the moment.  I've never been addicted to anything before.  Really thought it couldn't/wouldn't happen to me.  My therapist told me it was stupid of them to just give a bunch of bottles to someone who struggles with depression and PTSD on top of migraines.  Seems I was ripe for the picking.  But it really has become the only thing that controls the pain.  Over the last month or so my depression has gotten significantly worse.  Big surprise Stadol is a depressant.  So...told my therapist the truth about my use, gave my remaining bottle to my partner to give to me only for "legit" uses and am sitting in front of the computer wishing I hadn't done any of that.  Plan on doing this myself and the addiction tx programs aren't my style.  If anyone does have any info on how to lessen the withdrawl symptoms I'd also like to know.

Thanks,
River

I just found this forum tonight. I won't go into all the details cause it would take up way too much space but the bottom line is my husband is trying so hard to go without Stadol. We have been through this over and over. he actually left to go work out of town for a few days because if he's around the Stadol, he will use it no matter what. Even when he gives it to me to keep, I end up giving it back when he's in pain. Now I never know when he's really in pain or just craving it. How are you doing, River?

I just found this website.  I have been using stadol ns for several years now.  I get several bottles per month.  Right now I am wishing I had never seen the stuff. I have a severe migrain that started 5days ago. I tried to take something else for the pain but on day 2 I gave up on that
So.....I took stadol and I took stadol and I took more stadol and now the migrain is worse and I am almost out of stadol. I take it, my pain eases for a few minutes then BAM the pain is back and it brought a train with it.  I am to the point that I can not handle the pain. As I type this I am in one of those rare few minutes that my headache is dulled, but it will be back.  My husband is going to take me to the Dr. this afternoon....God I hope they can help me. I hurt so bad!

Stadol is just really wicked stuff.  Sounds like your husband is experiencing rebound pain.  With narcotics, when it's overused it works for just a little while and then the pain comes back worse.

I got myself off and had been doing pretty well.  Then I tore out my knee and they gave me Stadol yesterday.  Last night I took 4 hits and was feeling no pain and slept really well.  This morning is another story...I felt like hell.  I'm nauseated, have a wicked headache, can't sit still, and am sleepy but can't sleep.  WAY too much Stadol.  I figure I could just take more and the symptoms would go away but I also figure they'd come back even worse as it wore
