Bupenorphine

by Bodymechanic, Nov 21, 2002 12:00AM
Could you give us the latest information that is available concerning bupenorphine.  When it is expected to be more available? Who will be able to prescribe it?  What are the long term side effects?  What are considered a high and low dose? The costs involved? If the price of the medication is expected to drop once it is more widely available? If someone is taking another opiate medication is detoxification required prior to starting on the bupenorphine? Do you think it will be a "miracle" for those of us suffering from pain syndromes combined with long histories of addiction?

Hi all, i couldnt post a question today so i,ll ask it here,

I came off methadone 6mths ago to go onto subutex for 2/3mths, i,ve been clean now for 3mths almost and the withdrawal is still there but obviously not as bad, i find that when i sit down or keep my joints in 1 position to long they start to go numb and tingly, My sleep is getting better though.I started to take vitamins and eating bannanas in the last 2 weeks, so hope fully it will improve soon.

When i was given the choice to either carry on tapering off meth or change to bupe, i wish i had carried down off meth, the doctor told me AFTER the change over and i was finally off everything that the restless legs seem to be worse with subutex.

I am grateful for being off everything it just seems like its taking forever.

Hi Doctor - Can you tell me what long-term usage of Buprenex will do to you?  Does it do anything to your muscles to inject it into them on a daily basis?

At first, it seemed to give me energy and an overall feeling of well-being, and it was great for migraine pain.  I don't get much energy from it anymore, and I've found my sex drive has become rather non-existent...is that normal?  I also take Celexa, which was prescribed for the migraines as well.  I know those types of drugs don't help in the sex drive department.

Any info would be very much appreciated.  Thanks.

Mariposa what state do you live in that you can get it? ( the bup) A detox center in my area used to give it for W/D but because it was not approved for detox only pain they withdrew and now detox with ultram which is something I can do on my own. I was just curious on how someone can get it? Love Badd

I live in MA, but I originally had to go to FL to get it...there is a clinic there that only uses Bup.  I finally convinced my Dr. in Boston to take over the maintenance.
