RELIGIOUS CONTENT

We have noticed the postings regarding people being "banned" from this forum and our response follows:

There is a HUGE difference between mentioning God,versus telling someone that Jesus is the ONLY way to get to Heaven.  Two-thirds of the world's population is something other than Christian.

For the sake of tranquility, we ask that everyone STOP imposing their personal religious beliefs on others in this forum. There are many places you can go to discuss religion and we urge you to do so.  However, this forum is a place to discuss ADDICTION.

The people who were banned from this forum were told that if they could refrain from imposing their personal religious ideology on others, we would gladly welcome them back.  The choice is theirs.

Med Help strives to make our forums a place where EVERYONE feels welcome & comfortable, regardless of their race, creed, nationality, sex or religion.

I understand that but I never read that anyone said Jesus is the only way to get to heaven.  I guess I missed that.  It has become very unclear what is allowed and what isn't and many members jump in to tell a person what they can and cannot say.

From now on, if you don't intervene can we assume the content is fine?  I think that would work much better than having members policing other members.

Cindy,

Thanks for the post.

If in my attempt to help people, I ask them to pray about it, and I tell them that in my recovery, Jesus was the most instrumental thing in helping me get clean - is this acceptable on this forum?

As I mentioned before, I am grateful that you provided this forum as it was THE PLACE where I got my sobriety back, at no expense to me. (Still need to correct that)

From this forum's point of view, it was with the help of Christians and non-Christians that I was able to get over 70 days of sobriety now.

Thanks for wondering about me...I haven't been on here for awhile and now that I see what's been going on, WOW.

I have been sick with cold/flu/sinus and it's kicking my butt. I use to have Vicodin to cover up symptoms of illess, now that I have to deal with them "sober" I am a wuss. I have such a sinus headache I can't stand it....

I went on a job interview today and was able to put all that aside and I think I did pretty good.

Tough situation hough, boyfriend went to dentist and got Vics for pain. I know he has them but I told him to keep them out of my sight. He has but knowing he has them, wow. Day 28, cant go back now....I gotta keep that in my head no matter how bad I feel right now...thanks for thinking of me....

Love ya!!!

CONGRATS!!  You are awesome!!  I hope it is ok to say that I will be praying for you.  I am so proud of you!!  I haven't gone thru detox yet, but I am a great cheerleader!!  If you give me your email addy, I have ton's of cute emails to send you.  Distraction works.  I could send you a couple at different times of the day!  Then you would always have an encouraging word to look forward to.  Rex is the one of the best for detox support, as is Jerri, and gosh, just a ton of other people here.  I know this is their most favorite thing, helping someone gain their life back.  YEA!!!!

Hi sweetusa29, I have used clonidine (also known as catapres), and it seemed to help me (some people have said that it didn't help them). Your Dr. has probably explained that it is a high blood pressure med. and helps with anxiety and the heart pounding sensation. You are under med. supervision so take whatever he offers you that may help you. If the effects do not help, tell him, and have him discontinue the use. Don't discontinue meds on your own, unless you have severe side effects, then consult your DR. immediately. Sounds like you have a very understanding Dr., and that he is willing to work with you (I didn't) Best wishes and keep posting. Were all rootin for ya.......

To: Sorry, but may I ask a question?
The board did'nt let me post a new question, so I guess I'll just ask it here:

I have been on both morphene and Oxycotin, and both of them help my pain, but isn't there some better medications that are less addictive? I am on 3 Oxycotin per day 20 milligrams each. If I miss any dose, I start to feel very sick. Does other pain meds have that affect? Would it be better to use percoset since I'm on kind of a low dose of oxycotin?

Thanks to all who can help

hi , welcome to the fourm,

]my name is michael and i have

been here for a year , and got clean

off 15 vikes a day. with help and support

here. i also go to na meetings.

as far as the 20 mg of oxycotin they are equal to 4 --5mg perc'S

so to from 3 20 mgs oxy you would have to go to 12 --5mg prec's

a day and you can only take 8 perc's a day because they are

95 percent acetmetphine(tylonol).

if you can talk to your doctor about it and you can lower your

dose to 8 percs a day  ,you would be on your way to tapering

down. which is always good if the doctore says it is good

and your pain is not to bad.

peace!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! hippy

I am so glad to see you .... I have something to share with you. I am a Christian also, and I was inspired because of your faith which you were so open about. I started realizing that I needed some real power to overcome this and I would have to take a "leap of faith" sooner or later. I began to do what Christians do .... read the scriptures and pray. Some strange things happened. I went to fill my script (that my doc increased) and I lost it somewhere on the way home. I thought I could keep an extra script around just in case .... but the good Lord knew what was best. I had enough left because I was tapering down ... so I thought it was strange, but it motivated me to continue the taper and try harder. Believe me .... I looked high and low for the pills. I kept looking and looking ..... then I saw myself and I stopped looking. I thanked God for that lesson. The next thing that happened was at church this Sunday. A friend of 20 years died suddenly on Friday of a heart attack and I was really floored. I went home very sad and began to ponder my faith again and think of the "important" things. I fell into a deep sleep and woke up the next morning rested and relaxed. The thing is I have a sleeping disorder and I take 2 ambien every night and have been taking them for a few years. I was going to work on that problem next and I asked for God's help. I was told I could never sleep without it, and I slept. Just like a normal person! These are two miracles in my life. I stand all amazed .... I would have emailed this to you ... but don't have your address.

You are doing the right thing. "Every knee will bow and every tongue will confess that Christ is Lord" ..... ***@****

As I mentioned in my email, I am treading ever so lightly here, it's sad how crazy it's gotten on here in the last few days. I really enjoyed this forum and people like you previously and hope we can resume what we all are here for, to talk about our addictions and how to overcome the w/d's and the sometimes uncontrolable desire to abuse.

Thanks for being there Erika!!

Love ya!!

Thanks for that brief, but meaningful post. I haven't posted for several days and honestly just got tired of reading the bickering B.S. You know what they say about how an addict leaves off at the emotional age that they started their addiction process and that when they get clean, they are still at that emotional level of maturity... guess we've seen it in action. I'm 31 days clean of hydros today! Let's keep spreading the miracle to the active addict that's seeking help.

All my best to you & all,

Unpilled

i have been here a year now at this fourm and there has never been a problem with religion, sine during the last year that i have been here we have focused on addiction and meds ,and cronic pain patients, withdrawls from percs and oxy for the most part along with other drugs.

i have the utmost respect for rex and the other who were banned,

but we can mention god ,prayer in a general sense here at ther

medhelp fourm without much of a  to do.

so i think all will be well sharing our experence strength and hope from the horrors of addiction and the difficulty of have to take pain meds.along with our experenc with withdrawls

and how to best deal with them.

peace to all !!!!hippy
