I keep trying to post a question to the Doc, but can never get a new one. I've been a long time browser here and am finally posting.
I have just started treatment with Suboxone, for a norco addiction (30 a day for over a year). I am on day 2. I am on a low dose and feel lethargic but even close to what a cold turkey day 2 would normally be. I've done cold turkey before (and am kicking myself for relapse).
My question is this. Is there anyone here, the Doc included, who can tell me how it will feel once I'm off the suboxone? My doc will keep me on it 2 to 3 weeks and he says I'll just feel a little tired, but I've heard from others that it is an awful feeling to go off suboxone as well. I know there is no totally easy way out, but want to know what I'm in for, especially if there is someone who has been there.
I've started working NA and am hoping I can get free of this horrible pattern and make better choices, but it's hard to see the light at the end of the tunnel in the midst of the darkness.
Thanks in advance for any responses.
I tried Suboxen and it sounds like you aren't on a high enough dose. When I took it I felt so much better it was amazing. I started off on 16mg's, then went up to 20 and then switched to methadone. It worked for me but only to an extent, which is why I switched, HOWEVER, like I said, I felt great b/c I was put on the correct dose. No w/d symptoms at all.
As far as getting off from it, your doctor will have to taper you off (don't let him taper you too fast), but I feel bad for you b/c you aren't even getting the full benefit of it. I was in w/d BIG TIME and about an hour and 1/2 later, I was feeling great.
Good luck.

I've called the Doc to see if I should up my dose. I just feel super lethargic, but not shaky and none of the other usual 'day 2' symptoms. My fear is that when I stop the suboxone I will be in for bad wds, as I've heard it is terrible. I hope I'm making the right choice, as I spent a lot of money to try and do it this way.
But, I did cold turkey before, and I made it a month. It makes me so mad at myself that once I was feeling good, and normal again, I went back to taking a few just once in a while for pain ( I do have bad chronic pain) but I couldn't just keep it moderate, I went right back down that dark road, and my use got to a way worse point than it was before the relapse.
I want to be on the other side so badly. I know it takes time and persistance, and support, which is why I'm jumping in here, to write instead of just lurk.
thanks everyone.
