What dosage of methadone should I be on before starting subhoxone?

by 2ndtimearound, Dec 23, 2006 12:00AM
I have finally found a doctor at the local VA who will prescribe me subhoxone.  I am currently on 85 mgs. of methadone daily and I heard you need to be on 30 mgs. of methadone daily or less for the subhoxone to work. I do know you must be in full blown withdrawal before taking it. Does anyone have any info on this?

I  Was started on sub. the same afternoon of the psych. dr. appt. with him  knowing i had taken a lortab 2.5 mg that morning, d/t c/t withdrawals and i succumb to relief. (i thought) basically i have been a drug addict most of my life. 2 yrs ago, i decided 2 stop all drug usage and did C/T abruptly, which i'd advise not TO DO. I literally lost my self. most imp. I lost my mind. could not function @ nothing. took leave from job. and here i am now 2 yrs later. same thing off drugs for maybe 3 months then back on that "road"("hydroplane") i went. fought a losing battle so i got my courage-up to go for SUB. treatment on  the 21st. have not wanted another lortab but am taking this suboxone which is Great thus far.have not had a discussion with the dr. yet about the future. sub free or maint dose,(if there is such),  no clue as to what i will be facing. BUT i do know i hope/pray that i NEVER have 2 re-experience my adventure. IT WAS HELL. does anyone know if Suboxone is for long-term usage? wishing all of you a very MERRY CHRISTMAS. pray that 2007 will be a better year for all of us. Peace and Love.
