How to taper for tb1964

by matine, Dec 28, 2006 12:00AM
Hey TB:

You should have an easy taper. You could follow the 'taper' i left in a post earler or do this: cut dowwn by one each day for three days. Then by half for three days. Then take one at bedtime only for three days. Then cut them in half and take a half for three days. Then step off. You will feel slugish, and yes not want to be around people very much, but all this should be mild, and will pass. Once you are off it will take a few weeks then you should be at around 80precent of your normel self. A shot of whiskey here and there will not hurt you. Hot baths, lots of walking. Good luck.

Thanks for the tapering suggestion Matine.  Here's my current usage cycle (been like this for months):

Wake up:  One 1/4 pill

Around 10 am:  1/2 pill

Around 12 pm:  1/2 pill

Between 2 and 3 pm: 1/2 pill

None after 4 pm (they keep me awake).

Sometimes a couple Ativan to help me sleep, but not normally.

These doses may seem low compared to others, but I just can't get this monkey off my back!  I also have a heart condition and can not drink alcohol due to heart medication.

I'm afraid that if I stop taking, my heart will go into AFib (which it has) and this will lead to full blown VT (which is deadly).  The anxiety and restlessness is really bad without Norco in my system.

Thanks for listening.....

You are doing fine. You could just shave off a bit each time and without any stress to your heart step off in a month or so. Hell I cut pills into 4's. So a 5mg pill becomes 1 /1/4. It's fun even. Takes your mind off detoxing. + the amazing thing is that once the body adjusts to say even 1/2mg at say noon then the body starts to crave it at that time. So even 1/2mg can hook you.

Thanks for the advise Matine.  Are you still shaving your pills?  I've broke all mine in half and been shaving a little bit off the halves.
