About L-Tyrosine

by gipsee, Dec 30, 2006 12:00AM
Last night I bought L-Tyrosine...I took some this AM... just 1000 mg... I'm afraid to do the 2000 (According to the Thomas Recipe) I can't afford "jitters" at this point of recovery.

Apparently this is good stuff...and the amino acids help repair the neurotransmitters diseased with the opiate.   They use it in Alcohol withdrawal as well.

Anyone willing to talk about their reaction to Ltyrosine?

Thanks

Gip

Hey Gip,

Isn't this 10 days for u? R my calculations correct?

First of all, CONGRATS!!!! You are doing GREAT!

I take the L-Tyrosine w/B complex each am on an empty stomach. But, thats the way my stomach has been for the last 6 days. I ate a full meal last nite! My man called on his way home and said he'd get whatever my heart desired. I asked for Chinese, one of my favs! Last nite was the first BAD night in 2 days, the MSG! Stay away from that.

I LOVE the way the L-Tyrosine makes me feel, I do take 2000mg. It almost feels like a coffee buzz, which I had become numb to.

I also take Zinc, OPC-3, Mochatonix, and Complete Greens. The latter 3 are from Market America, kinda like Avon in my neck of the woods.

Even though I didn't sleep over 3 hrs last nite, Since I have taken all "my substitutes" as my HONEY calls them, I am feeling more positive.

But, you have to do what feels good to YOU right now. These are my observations...

God Bless you and Every1 here still struggling, as am I.

You ALL are TRULY an inspiration!

I don't know about L-Tyrosine specifically but I do take a multi-amino acid along with a multivit.  I take the multi amino because supposedly each neurotransmitter (dopamine, serotonin, norepinephrine, GABA, acetylcholine) has a different amino precursor.  From my own reviewing of data out there opiates damage the pleasure area (dopamine), throw off the "thermostat" in the brain (hence the cold/hot/sweats) and inhibit sleep areas (hence the sleeplessness when off opiates).  Opiates hit the central nervous system (feel good) and peripheral (hence the constipation of GI track and then the "runs" when mu, delta, sigma and kappa opiate receptor sites are no longer targeted).  All these areas need time to equalize.  Maybe I'm bs'ing myself with the "multi aminos help all of these areas and all the neurotransmitters" idea but I have found it to be helpful.  I have also experienced the PAWS (post acute withdrawal syndrome) which is after the worst of the worst is over (5 days) there is a two week, month, for some folks longer period of time of ongoing malaise, depression, being on "autopilot," periods of craving, "pining" for the drug, etc.  I haven't taken a benzo for sleep or anxiety but have taken Valerian (which research shows hits the same GABA transmitters as benzos) and for sleep have tried both antihistamines diphenhydramine (benadryl) and doxylamine succinate (Nyquil).  I go to the gym and do a "water treatment" with Jacuzzi and then sauna.  I read about one detox in California that has everyone do 15 min. sauna treatments through the stay with the promotion of "saunas help sweat out the metabolites in the system that cause cravings" and supposedly helping reduce detox by a few hours or days.  I don't know if this is completely accurate...it takes what it takes in terms of time but I do it.  So here's the catch...if I have a "recipe" for detoxing am I setting myself for relapse?  In other words, the self deceipt of "well, I've done it before and know how to get through it so what the hell...let's get a script...I can get through the 5 days again...it's a trade off...a few months on hydro with feeling good for 5 days of hell...yeah, that's an equal trade?"

I bought it... I'm taking it, however I took 1000mgs yesterday 1500 today ..I don't need any more jitters and I was curious about the dosage.

I'm actually forcing myself to eat ... it's been OK... I don't keep a scale here, I have no idea how much weight I lost but I look horrible.

You are right on with the PAWS....

I just spent the last 11 days going through hell and I have been thinking about picking up the Vics just for tonight to make it through this FREAKIING NIGHT THAT NO ONE WILL LET ME STAY HOME....

Like Mema said in another post, maybe it will be a distraction.   If I start to feel really anxious I'll walk the dogs or something.   I hate New Year's Eve.

Am I drowning myself in an overdose of pity or WHAT... I don't suppose I can just put my life on hold and continue when I'm feeling perfectly NORMAL??

Happy New Year
