I am on Suboxone which is Bunephorine, and yes my insurance covers it. You just have to remember that it to is an opiate designed to wean you off with less w/d symptoms... And at least for me it is a godsend...I could never quit c/t never made it past 24 hours before taking a hand full of opiates... And me taper? yeah like if I have 40 vicodins I am going to spread them out? NOWAY so for me it is the best option.. It is carefully monutered by an addiction doctor and I found mine on that very website. It is worth looking into..Hope this helps you

That is the ingredient in Subutex. Subutex is just a different release mechanism. It and its sister drug Suboxone both work for most people. Subuxone has an opiate antagonist that will stop other opiates from working.  Subutex is about $120 for 12 pills which is enough to taper down in 5 days. 4,3,2,1,1.

thanks for the quick response.  since you said that it is covered by insurance - does it go under your substance abuse benefits, or it the doctor just a regular medical doctor that also specializes in substance abuse and if that is the case is that particular medicine used for anything other than tapering off. saw that there is only one doctor that does this in the town where i live.

Mine is billed as substance abuse counseling, and opiate addiction is the number 1 reason Suboxone is given out but a very few painmanagement docs use it for long term opiate users for pain..

i guess i can always call the doc in my area and get the questions answered, but since i really didn't even know what to ask to begin with this has helped a bunch!!

hell, i can spend $120.00 on the problem i have now or i can spend that on fixing the problem.  either way, i would be spending the money!

so, when you say 5 days - does that mean no more w/d symptoms after that time or what??  if i could get past the symptoms i wouldn't have a problem with the rest of it, i have that much confidence in myself.  but those damn withdrawals are a pain (excuse the pun)

I got mine from my psych doctor that believe it or not is also a subustance abuse specialist. And was also the one that wrote my hydro scripts. Crazy hua. Sorry I don't have insurance so I can't awnser that question but I can tell you is also helped with my pain a little. I had a pain tollerance before I started the Hydros and I am having to build that back up after quiting. I have had a lot of broken bones thanks to bull riding and knee surgeries thanks to college football and flying cropdusters. I am using Lidocaine patches every now and then. They work locally so you don't get the warm fuzzies. good luck!

I had very very little W/D's. They worked great compared to CT which I have also done.

i tried the c/t also and i lasted oh..............all of 1 day!!!  i don't have any reason to take pain pills, nothing wrong with me - just like the high!!  so, if i can get past the w/d i think i would pretty much have it made OR at least that is what i am counting on.  but honestly just thinking about the w/d make me anxious!!!
