Detoxing off of LORTAB PERCOCET and OC

Question

I am a 20 year old male. I have been dependant on LORTABS and PERCOCETS for a couple years now. Doctor gave them to me for migraines, then i got hooked. Started a couple a day, now im up to 20 to 30 a day...just depends on how busy i am that day. I dont need them at all times... its only when im bored, like at home watching tv, or at work. In the morning when i wake up I will take 10 tabs then watch tv. Later i will go to work, and not take any until my body craves them, then i take 10 more. After work i go hang out with friends, but when i get home i have to have 10 more and watch tv. I tried quiting cold turkey a couple times but the withdrawls are too intense. So I saw a specialist the other day and he gave me CLONIDINE for the withdrals, and i am now slowly quitting. I just was hoping there was someone on here that could please give me any advise i need to help me. I really dont want this drug controling me anymore.

Hi there...welcome to the forum...sounds like you have the resolve to do this. Is there someone in your life that can help you taper...someone that can hold your pills and give them to you on a scheduled basis?  Everyone is different here...tapering works for some...didn't work for me...my willpower not to great so I went c/t of 10-15 norco/day X2 1/2 yrs.  Just know that your ultimate goal is to stop and that you have come to a good place to support you and answer questions that you may have. I really pray for your success in beating this, as we all do. Keep posting...many ways to get you through w/d ie. The Thomas Recipe which has been posted many times.

The CLONIDINE works pretty well.... its just being strong enough to take that instead of the tabs. Its like my mind is playing games with me. One minute im set on never taking them again...the next im freaking out until i get them.
