Good pills, tablets, patches, ect. To quit smoking Cigaretts (9 years in).

by Grieco01, Mar 01, 2007 12:00AM
I really want to quit badly, I know I can do it though my mind plays games with me, I started when I was 11 years old now im 20 years old. Im feeling the side effects of smoking these days. I smoke like a pack to 15 cigaretts per a day use to do 3 packs a day. I smoke lights I've tried the Patches,Commit,Gum,candy(can't eat sweets anymore.),a new hobby nothing seems to help plus my brother smokes in our room so its hard to sleep at night while trying a new quitting product.

I would like to be done with smoking so I can enjoy a relationship more or smile without worries of yellow teeth an smelly breath.

Any good idea's how to get over smoking, Good products?

Thanks

You know Grieco, I saw on the news the other day that there is some kind of lotion, or hand cleanser that you can use to help quit smoking. They tried it on some consumers and they said that it did help curb the urge to smoke a cig for a few hours longer than normal. Might be something to look into. Good luck.

I am new to the forum.  I have been lurking for about two weeks.  I know several people who have quit smoking successfully using a pill called Chantix.  It is a prescribed drug and I believe it fairly expensive so hopefully you have insurance.  I Know 4 people who have quit smoking one this medication.  You can smoke for the first week on the med. but after that if you smoke on it you will get sick to your stomach.

Hope all goes well

I have tried everything (tapering, patches, gum, lozenges) ... nothing worked. Finally, I found a website called whyquit.com, and it has been an awesome resource for me. It builds a strong case for quitting the good old fashioned way - cold turkey. I have been a daily visitor to this site since I quit 9 days ago. If that doesn't work, I've also heard great things about Chantix as well.
