What aabout tapering ?

I'm starting tapering and today will be 1/4 -1/2 of what I'v been taking, I'm worried about the anxiety and the affects on my thinking I have an 11yr. old to care for and I can't be "laied up" and sick on the floor.  I've been taking 120-160mgs of oxycotin daily and I want to come off this stuff!  Please, if anyone has a similar cirumstance or has used suboxone with good results let me know.  I will b in touch with my Dr. tomorrow but I really need all the help I can get and a T.C. is out of the ?

the most positive thing about subutex or suboxone is that you can still go to work without the W/D's

I understand you can't be down for the count, ask your
doctors advice........

Subutex worked great for me, no heavy W/D symtoms....

Hey secretlady:
I would highly suggest tapering.  I was taking 480 mgs of oxy per day for 2 years.  480 mgs a day!
I decided to quit and went cold turkey this past Monday, 2-26-07.  I have never been so sick in my entire life.  Today is my 7th day and I'm still so weak that I can't drive.  But I think I'm seeing the end of tunnel.
If I did it again, I would taper.  Make a plan and stick to it.
Wishing you the best,

Wow Yoda!!! Congrats to you!!!! You are truly an inspiration to me. Keep up the good fight, you must feel like you just fought yourself out of a 10 ft hole with your fingernails. I really admire your strength.

Wow- congrats to you!! I am beginning a tapering from 350-400 mg of hydro a day. It is inspiring to see another "heavy" user with a success story in the making. I sometimes hear about people going c/t from like 60mg and think "I have such a larger challenge ahead of me." It is great to hear from you. Please keep us posted for better or for worse. If I had it to do over again I would have tapered..  c/t is horrible, but I guess it's faster in the long run. Also I don't know if I personaly could have stuck to a taper program, I would have probably just taken them all when I started feeling like Sh.. !   but it is in theory a more humane way to go about it.  I would recomend talking to any M.D. you can, idealy one that is a specialist in addiction, or at least cool to talk to. There are some med's they can give you to help with the symptoms a lot, (ie) anxiety, sleep, etc... It doesn't matter how you obtained your med's, Doc's aren't cops and most will help regardless.
