Ok. Thanks for letting me know that.
You're posting on very old posts..and many people may not answer because they will miss it. Click the green "post a question" box at the top of the page and post your question as a new post. Then people will answer. By the way..Ladysundown has been gone from the forum for quite some time now.
I am fairly new here and seeking an answer to the possibility of weening of these patches. Right now I use a 100mcg every three days.
How did you start weening? (If I may ask)
Thank you for you time.
dont use them.icouldnt get them to balance out weht through w/ds while wearing one and i didnt abuse them at all.it only took 2 weeks it worked third week on them was pure hell so i went cold turkey of all meds except reguip for rls.if your not dying dont use them bad stuff the bowhunter
I was on Duragesic patches, and one day I couldn.t breathe. It dropped my B/P to where I thought I would pass out!!! They are used mainly for cancer patients! I am coming off percocets, that to me are like M&M's compared to duragesic patches.
Good luck to you, I wish you the best
My doctor prescribed Duragesic Patches for me today. I have just come off of using KADIAN and still use NORCO regularly along with a small dose of Lyrica daily. The KADIAN gave me too many unwanted side effects. I use a morphine cream a couple of times a day on my wrist/hand, almost every day. I've tried a tens unit with marginal success and do still use it at times.
I have a crushed ulna nerve in my left hand which causes constant heavy pain with occassional (sometimes often) spikes or breakthrough pain. I tried oral Fentanyl, but it just knocked me out - not good.
I was researching the patches to see how others have experienced the patch. I need something to take the pain level down to a halfway managable level, then I can work on how to deal with the spikes.
I am new to this forum so please excuse my comments if they are repetivive from someone else...I'll try to report on how the patches work for me. Any comments regarding the treatment of this type of pain are appreciated.
I was on Oxycontin before and it worked well. I have only heard bad things about fentanyl, so I'm kinda worried. Thanks everyone for your comments.
I would highly suggest not to get involved with the pain patches.
I was on Duragesic Fentanyl patch for over seven years, and its the worse thing to try to just go cold turkey.
A person's head gets to popping, pain hits from old injuries, and its just plain bad.
I suppose if you just take a small amount it might be okay.
However, there have even been law suits because once in awhile all the medicine runs out at once and can hurt or kill a person.
It was the least evil from the treatments of reflex sympathetic dystrophy, and I didn't know as much then as now.
A few times I've forgotten to put a new patch on for a number of days, and its just horrific.
I tried going cold turkey a couple of times, and its the worse I've ever been through. Even after suffering from reflex sympathetic dystrophy.
Please be careful.
I don't like to tell anyone what to do if their Dr. has put them on something, but in the case of fentanyl pain patches....stay away if possible. Not only are they hard to come off of, they are also dangerous. If you accidently puncture the patch all of the fentanyl is released into your system at once. Usually, they are changed every three days. I was on 100mcg and now am wearing a 25mcg patch and a 12mcg. Next taper on the 15th when I see my Dr. I hope. Then I will be on just the 25mcg.
I hope you don't think any of us are being mean because we aren't. We just care enough to try to spare you from what we have been through.
Take Care....LS
Me, bowhunter, ladysundown, suprglyde are just the few that come to mind who are or used to be patchers. I am currently on 50mcg's. I was 3 days ago on actiq lolipops 400mcg's. I am trying to recover from being out of control with those, so am on patch to try to cope with w/d's. I was taking more than twice the 'scribed amount when on actiq. Fentanyl is very powerful, and the patch is a delivery system that takes away feeling high, but trust me, they are working. You have to treat them with much respect. Fentanyl w/d's are probably the worst of all opiates. We all have experience and have varying degrees of expertise/recovery. What were u on b4, and what size patch r u on now? What is causing your pain?
there are 4 people on here that are on or coming off patches.. their screen names are LadySundown, manonfire, bowhunter, and superglyde...look for their posts til one of them can answer you..
if there is anything i can do just ask..
Well Ive heard of people having to be weened off them....so I imagine they are addictive...but other than that...I dont know much!! lol
