Hey, thanks for posting to Taffy.

I have a non-drug question for you: what are the chances of twins if an ultrasound detects only a single fetus at 9 weeks? The only reason I ask is that a friend of mine just found out last week at the 2nd ultrasound (not the 1st but the 2nd) that it's gonna be twins. Today my wife goes in for her 1st ultrasound (9 wks) and we are obviously apprehensive since I'm a twin and we already have a pair. Thanks.

if you werent a twin and didnt have a pair i would say unlikely, but since those are factors i would say its likely that u will be having another set...and congrats!!!

First of all, congratulations!!!! Is this just a routine US...the US techs are usually pretty accurate (always a few exceptions!) but unless one embryo and sac is right behind the other, they should be able to determine if there are two heartbeats or one!  If you are asking for percentages, I don't know but either way...what a wonderful blessing!!!! Let us know what you find out!  Good luck!  What a wonderful gift to your unborn child/children? and your wife...a clean husband and father!!!!
Peace,
Marcie

Yes, it's just a routine u/s. It's a blessing yes of course, but we're building a house under the assumption that there's only 1 in there! I will let you know tonight either way. Thanks.
