Lortab Addiction

by LuvsHerMan, Apr 12, 2007 12:00AM
We need help.  My husband after 2 surgeries in 9 months time has become addicted to Lortabs.  This has been going on for almost 3 years now.  He knows he has a problem.  I want to help.  We have started tapering him off.  We have been reading the forums and see him in so many people.  Any advice for us to beat this is so appreciated.

Hi and welcome to the forum. How much does he take daily?  Are you guys tapering under the advice of a doctor?  Is he still in a lot of pain?  I'm just trying to get more information so that we can give you some better information.  They are a nasty drug because the addiction seems to just overtake us!  I hope we can help you in some way!
Peace,
Marcie

Hi and thank you.  He has been taking off and on anywhere from 2 to 4 - 10 milligrams a day for over 3 years.  Eventually, they became for recreational as well as for pain.  Within the last few weeks, he was going further.  He finally told me he was taking a minimum of 4 to 8 a day as well as some other medications.  He tried to quit cold turkey, but it was too hard.  He now has 6 pills left and I have cut them into thirds.  He is still has pain but with 2 shoulder surgeries, he is going to be.  He has been offered pain management.  Can you tell me what that entails?    He is ashamed, we are both frightened for him.  It has changed him and he feels so guilty. Unfortunately, he works in an environment that is a like a pharmacy.  It will be hard for him.  It's like putting an alcoholic to work as a bartender.  Like I said earlier, as I was reading the forums, we saw him and know that we are not alone and there is light at the end of the tunnel and it's not the train barrelling down on us.  All of you were inspirations to us and we are grateful that there is support like this out there.

Hi, I am on day two of CT and it's not easy... I have a call into the doc to see what he can do... I do know that the buz is gone when I take them and am sick and tired of being this way.  I was OK before I got hooked.  Maybe you should check in with the doctor???
