Getting off hydros

by Gar7, Apr 17, 2007 12:00AM
I have been posting here for a while and love the support so here goes. I have been  4 days c/t and got my new script yesterday of hydros, 180 7.5. I am trying my damnest to get off of these things but like alot I have the addiction but also the pain and abuse them. Last night I said I would not and took 3 more just for fun. I am struggling this morning already. The good news is I have an appointment tommorow for an epadoral (sp) and should get much releaf. I have been taking 10/500 hydros for the last 2 1/2 years and asked my doc to knock them down to 7.5 to see if I can reduce the meds as I go.I have never fought such a tough problem in my life as geting off these pills from hell.I have a wonderful life right now and would sure hate to blow it for some pill,so all the info you can give me to reduce or anything would be appriciated.

I have been addicted to lortab 10 or norco 10's on/off for about 3 yrs.  And it has been one of the toughest battles.  About 4 wks ago I started goin to a Methadone to get off of the hydrocodone,  and finally I am feeling normal.  I am no longer fighting the monkey and I can work, take care of my child and function normally.  But honey I no what you mean when you say, you 've never had to fight so hard against something.  I was addicted to coke and I could walk away from it but not opiates ,  ITS SO HARD.

If you have a horrible pain then you have to take something. It sounds like you have a legitamate pain. If not and you picked up the hydro prescription then you aren't ready to get off the pills. I feel so badly for people that truly have pain. I don't know what they do because there is no way I could live in horrible pain. You would just be stuck between a rock and a hard place. I think you should talk honestly with your doctor. If you have been brave enough to ask him to back off your hydro amount then it sounds like you can talk openly to him/her. I'm here for you take care

Do you have someone close to u that u can give ur script 2 then they can dipense them to you maybe 2 in the morning , 2 at lunch, 2 at bedtime, do that for 2 days then 1 and a half in the morning, 1and half at lunch, 1 and half at betime for 3 dayz then 1 tab morning, noon and bedtime for 3 dayz then a half in the morning, noon and bedtime for 3dayz or you can try finding a methadone clinic in your area and go to suboxin.com, that another detox drug you can get from a  doctor that website can tell you more about it
