I also understand addiction to pills. I was addicted to klonopin for about 6 years, been done with that for over a year.  Now it's beer. I have'nt had a drink for 2 days and it's driving me crazy.  I have to quit for my husband cuz he has hep c from IV drug use. He won't quit unless I do. I had myself checked out no hep c and no liver problems. He says if you drink I'm going to.  I would drink about 10 or 12 beers a day, he would drink about 20 or more.  My husband says he has  million dollar scars on his arm.  He went to prison, lost a good buisness and so on and so on.  The worst part is I'm a bartender!!!! Can you imagine?   I just need some people to talk to through this.  It's hardest for me on beautiful days like today. I want to be outside working in the yard drinking beer.  I could'nt even sleep last night.  I hope it's not as bad as klonopin with drawel.  I could'nt sleep or eat for 12 days.   I usually don't admit how often I drink, but I'm trying to be honest here.  Anyway  any advice support etc. would be great!!!  Thanks.

i just wanted to tell you i was on klonopin for almost 3 yrs..i had trouble with my stepdaughter that lived with me and my doctor gave me that without ever telling me it was addicting, not saying i would of listened because my panic attacks were so bad..TO make a long story short i went though withdrawels so bad with that..The bad thing is i did not know it was klopin, i thought i was just losing my mind and having panic attacks all day long for 13 days..I take adivan now for it, and i know it is still addicting but i dont take it to much and to be honest i think i wil need this forever..i hope that helps a little..I also was drinking a 12 pack a night with my husband and quit about 2 yrs ago..I have learned to drink social..I don't miss the hangovers ..But i did do a 12 step program..But i also turned that addtion into another so i guess i didn't do that great!!
i hope things get better for you

Hey,
You have came to the right place.  There are so many helpful supportive people on this forum.  It's wonderful.  I'm so sorry about your alcohol addiction but so glad u got over the pill addiction.  To be honest, if you can get over the pill addiction then this should be a piece of cake, well almost anyways lol...  And roadtorecovery, I also take ativan, and I only take it once a day and I'm prescribed 4 a day but only take one and it works wonders for stress and withdrawals definitely.  I love them.  It calms me down and is awesome for withdrawals.

Kimberlee, I'm not an expert when it comes to alcoholism but I came very close one time in my life about 15 years ago to headin' in that direction.  Sorry I'm no help but I definitely wanted to get in here and post back to ya and tell ya I'm here for ya girlie!!!  You have all my support.  It's a big step to admit and tell the truth about it also.  You should pat yourself on the back.  It takes alot of courage to do that.  You should be so very proud of yourself for gettin' to this point.  If you wanna talk live on instant messenger, my yahoo address is laffy_taffy_lil_rabby***@****.  If I'm not logged on, leave a message and I'll get back to ya as soon as I see it.  Take care and god bless, hugzzz, Lil.  :)

PS.  Praying for ya!!
