I found your post from earlier today in the "amino acid" post... congrats on being clean. Please dont' take it personal.  I know i was running off to work while that post was up. When were you here last?? YOu mentioned being here before.. What are you clean from? How long were you on it??  How did you do it??  THe best way around here is to post a question with your story and introduce yourself..

Different scedules different people... maybe you just caught a hole???  I try to answer as many questions as I can during the time that I am on... I can't always be on so..../???

Below are the only two comments and one thread that I have found... is there a particular question that you need asking right now??

feel for you. I suffer from nasty migraines as well. What I do (it may sound crazy but works for me) I fill a sock up with uncooked rice, tie a knot in the end and nuke it in the microwave for a couple of minutes 2-3 (desired warmth), then I crawl into a HOT bath soak until i start to sweat, get out, grab my hot rice sock and crawl into my dark cool room, no distractions allowed! I just lay in bed, let the cool air relax me and keep the sock where it hurts. I can normally drift of to sleep.

My Father is an alcoholic, very functional, but nevertheless alcohol has control over his life. I have watched him in and out of the hospital,(PANCREANTITIS), believe me someone who drinks large amounts daily to feel normal will inevitably have an issue with stopping. I am not sure what amounts you are talking about but I will tell you he probably needs to see a doc. If he can admit he has a problem they will most likely give him LIBRIUM to help with the DT's. After seeing a loved one struggle and hurt I can totally identify with your issues.

HE IS BLESSED to have you care for him, not everyone has someone looking out for them. BEST OF LUCK!

If you need to talk or have any questions I would love to share my families ins and outs with alcoholism.

I was so determined to not be an alcoholic, I successfully became a addict

(((((((And this is the only thread that I have found that you have started:)))))))))

I've been reading for several days now, I am starting on SUBOXONE tommorrow, I have been struggling with a addiction to hydrocodone for 3 years or so, at times I have been up to 4000mg of hydro a day, I am terribly scared of what I am about to do. I found a doc, he seems to good to be true, he is more than affordable and I honestly believe God put him in my path so I could actually have a chance at recovery. Ok here is my question, how long do I need to be in withdrawl before I begin the sub? My doc is vaque and said not to take any after 11:00pm tonight, my appointment is for 12:30(noon)tommorrow. I know I will be in withdrawl by then, but my doc suggested I wait 20hrs before I take my first sub. I don't know if I can make it that long. WHAT happens if I take the sub sooner? Will it make me ill if I take it too soon? PLEASE HELP, I am very scared of the unknown. THANKS!!!

I was told about a day and to be into the WD's. I was given a small, "tester" to see my reaction and when it was favorable they gave me more... I think the tester was 2mgs? but I would even go smaller than that now knowing a little more about the drug. It is a way powerful drug and not to be trifled with... ask FLadding more about that... It will be good for you to use the lowest dose possibe for comfort...Take care of yourself by using this drug frugally.Jim

THANKS for the quick response! I am really nervous, I haven't gone more than 12hrs or so without hydro in my body for over a year, i am having a rough time waiting to do this I wish I could have gotten into the doc sooner.ANY KNOWLEDGE is HELPFUL, for those who have started SUBOXONE, please share your first day experiences, how long into withdrawl, how did you feel, were you able to function? Should I plan on taking some time to adjust? IS it better to sleep, keep busy, ECT>>>>

If you are not on an extended release like oxy twelve to twenty hours should be sufficient If you r on an extended release it is at least twenty4 hours. If you have been in methadone 7two hrs is what they say. They should give you a tester, but if they don't the hours above should help you decide what is right for you.I really hope that this is successful for you. keep posting here, it helps get you through the hard times and welcome to the site. I'll say a prayer that it all works out for you.God Bless and God Speed to your recovery,Gypsy

I also meant to ask about drug interactions with the SUBOXONE, can you take SOMA or ZANAX with ot? I have also been taking soma, I am not physically addicted, they are prescribed for sleep, or should I say to take before I sleep. They were prescribed by my family doctor.Hopefully all of these questions will be answered tomorrow by my treatment doc, sorry, I am just so nervous.

To: Awww, I'm sorry!
I don't get my questions answered sometimes too. I try not to take it too personally because I am also rather knew here. Also I think if someone doesn't have the answer for whatever question you posted, rather than saying "I don't know" on your post they just move to a question they do know the answer to. Nothing personal I don't think. I have also done this so I'm really pretty sure it's nothing personal. From reading the above replies it seems like a couple of people do know the answers to your questions so that's good. Please keep posting. This is a great forum with GREAT people. Someone will know the answers eventually!

I am on day 2 on Suboxone-
My doctor told me not to take anything the night before and I woke up at 3am
with cravings and I took vicadens at 5 Am-
He was not too happy but I was lucky and took my small dose of sub @ 2PM
All went well and he gave me more -
The night was rough and I could not sleep - I am finally feeling better-
I think I felt this would not work but it is.

I am really happy to be able to read such real honest people who became
addicted-
I  feel better about myself.
All the bst,
Steve
