Blood Pressure Question..Clonidine

by Ga Guy, Jun 27, 2007 12:00AM
I have been taking Clonidine as part of my detox. I am already on a couple of BP meds and the doc said that .1mg 2 to 3 times a day would be ok. Just wondering what a low..LOW BP is? I've been trying to go by if I get dizzy, etc. But I do have a BP Monitor, and I guess I need to keep check. I'm gonna try to wean off them altogether tomorrow...my last reading was 115/65...opinions??

I think it is different for every person.I take bp meds.
If my bottom number goes below 65, I get dizzy.I think you
are ok if you are above 100/50. Why don't you just Google
low blood pressure?Wow, this Clonidine is very popular on
this site. Does it help that much?

For me, the difference is unbelievable. I tried the whole CT thing before and had massive aches, anxiety, etc. This time, instead of a 10..anxiety, aches, pains have been maybe a 2-3. The diarrhea was terrible, and the occasional anxious feeling was bad, but tolerable. Nothing helps the tiredness and fatigue (in fact, the clonidine makes that part worse), but it's worth the trade-off.

Getting dizzy is a good barometer for whether the clonidine is making it too low.. If you have been on it for a week you should probably start tapering back anyway.. The number you gave sounds ok to me... everyone is different but if you are not getting dizzy or anything you are probably ok... start weaning off though..

To: low bp
Your BP# are right on the border of being in the low range especially the lower one. FLaddict is correct you should gage yourself on whether you are symptomatic or not and you seem to be symptomatic. Try not taking it for a while and see how you feel if you start to feel the w/d maybe take half a pill, if there still bothering you, you can always take the other half. What you don't want is to really drop you BP and pass out. Let us know hoe it all works out for you.

I've seen lots of posts on the clondine use as well. I was just curious how long it's usually prescribed for when used to aid withdrawal symptoms? Also, does it have its own set of withdrawal symptoms?

It is usually used during the accute rough stages of WD. I used it for about a week and a half. It does not have any WD symptoms but they suggest you taper off of it so that your blood pressure can adjust to normal with out it. Stopping abruptly can cause a spike in BP. It helps alot with symptoms of Wd from opiates.
