My shrink prescribed it along with xanax for sleep. boy, did I sleep...like wake up with the lights on in the morning in the same position in bed sleep.
I only could tolerate 25mg, but it did help me sleep like a baby...only, more comatose.
In combination with xanax I do believe I could sleep through a freight train going past my house.
I recently gave up the Seroquel and can't even remember why although I'm sure it had to do with the space cadet feeling I would have from time to time---and the fact that I could barely put together coherent sentences after about 30 min from taking it. Plus, I remember feeling "dumb" during meetings at work---like i wasn't on top of my game---could have been many things, but I felt like Seroquel was the strongest of the drugs prescribed and therefore the most likely culprit of stealing my wit and creativity.
Now, I still take my xanax and wish to goodness I could get off that--my sleeping problems started 10 years ago...there used to be a time not too long ago I could take a xanax and then not need one for two weeks...now, I just fall asleep and wake up every hour, no matter how much kava kava, passion flower, hops, chammomile, or whatever kind of herbal concoction I whip up.
My doctor says it's b.c. of the GABA receptors in my brain and too much adrenaline----the xanax and seroquel bind to those receptors and help the brain shut down and go to sleep.
Never had any problems with weight gain or making my hungry...but then again, I'm kind of like a person who can always be hungry, and have a snack...so not sure if that is a good measure.
Still researching how to do it naturally without xanax----if anyone has had any luck, please let me know.
Thanks!
