Help with drugs and depression and other problems

by Devin_r, Jul 05, 2007 12:00AM
I have experimented with many drugs, my history is as follows: Alcohol(every once in a while), marijuana (once a week - every day), ecstasy (5 times, max dosage 3 pills), cocaine (4 times, max dosage 2 lines), NYTOL (250mgs and another 200mgs at another time) percocet (once 40 mgs), adderall(2 times, first time snorted around 65mg's second time less than 2.5 mgs) I was also on celexa and effexor both for about a month a while ago. I just turned 16 recently and started to feel weird (which i think is caused by drugs) like i cant think and i felt stupid. It went away after about two weeks and comes back very subtely every now and then for about 2 weeks now. I decided to keep smoking weed and stop with the other drugs. recently i did a tiny line of speed. i have been smoking weed daily and in the morning im starting to feel weird, but its different this time. I am still a bit high from my last session and am wondering if this will go away when i stop smoking for a bit. I love smoking weed and am worried that i might be like this for the whole summer. is there any way i can continue smoking weed almost daily and not feel so weird all the time. I have also been getting bouts of depression and am thinking of going back on anti depressants will this help at all. thanks.

you are only 16 years old and already have experimented with many drugs.   sounds like you are not on a very good path right now.

do you know that pot is a depressant?  the more you smoke...the more depressed you will become.

my advice to you is to stop now while you can.  doing drugs will eventually lead to an arrest...addiction...and ruining your life.  stop now!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I was on the same road you are when I was your age, if you put any drug in front of me I would take it.

I don't want to advise you as to how safe it is to smoke weed or not. As for the anti-depressants, if they help you by all means use them but you have to try to cut out the illicit use of the drugs you've described.

I would also advise  you to speak with your psychiatrist, I am assuming that is who is treating your depression though that is not always the case as my regular md used to prescribe me Prozac.

There is a  patient/doctor confidentialy as we all know, how it applies to minors I do not know. I am sure someone here will answer your question better then I.

Keep checking and someone else will come along I am sure.

Oh Sweetie,

You are only 16, i hate to hear what you have already done. I have a son who just turned 14, I can't even imagine what you are going through.

Listen, you have a whole life in front of you, please put a stop to this NOW.
You did the right thing by coming here and asking for help. That alone is a big step. At least you know that you have a problem. I feel the same way as the others said, if you can talk to your physicatrist, (if you have one) be HONEST with him/her. There are ways they can help you come off these things that you are taking.

Please stop now, get some help...You are so young, but i am proud of you for coming here and telling your story. I am not too familuar with alot of the things that you are taking, but i am sure someone else on here can help you better.

Keep posting, and Please do what you have to, if not it'll only get worse!!! It really will...

Best to you

im not coming off anything,i have experimented with drugs thats it and i plan on stopping now because everytime i use them i felt absolutely nothing. I am just wondering how long will it take this weird feeling to go away and can i continue using marijuana?

by comeoutswingin, Jul 05, 2007 12:00AM
The simple answer is nobody can tell you when the feeling will go away...Have you stayed on any of those SSRIs (the Celexa and Effexor) for any period of time? I would pick one and stick with it. I don't think anyone on this board will tell you it is okay to smoke pot everyday.....Especially at 16. You're young......I am too (early 20's)...I think you have tried an amazing amount of substances for someone your age, and I partied pretty hard all through high school and college. Take some time and evaluate why you think you need to smoke pot everyday...are you anxious/depressed/etc??? Tell your shrink or regular doctor. Things can be done about it....I didn't know that at your age. Take advantage of the summer and use it to get together.

Did you ever stop to think that the marijuana is making you feel stupid and weird? The other drugs while bad, you haven't taken enough to do permanent damage...yet..and I suggest that you stop it all before it becomes a problem that you can't stop. You are displaying all of the common characteristics of pot smoking...the inability to think properly and feeling weird are par for the course. As for me giving you the green light to smoke pot for the rest of the summer, sorry it's not gonna happen. However, if you stop smoking pot and you STILL feel depressed then maybe you should talk to your doc about some therapy and/or meds, but I believe that the pot is making you depressed. I hope you enjoy your summer...DRUG FREE!!
