Hawthorne thorn poke and skin reaction

by whatadeel, May 20, 2006 12:00AM
I was pruning my Hawthorne bush/tree and was poked in my wrist by one of its long thorns.  Since then, the spot has changed color to like a bruise and a scab formed over the poke hole.

I was wondering if this Washington Hawthorne tree has any serious reactions w/thorn pokes?

I was grinding up branches, one of which was a hawthorne branch.  I accidentally stabbed myself with a thorn in my index finger.  Within 12 hours, my finger was swollen about half again it's normal size.  It has now been 48 hours and my finger is still swollen and sore.  There was a bit of redness, which is now gone.   Does anyone know what's up????
