What are the effects of 2,600 mg of aspirin in less than 24 hrs on a 115 lb woman? My heart is racing and I have chest pain.

Asprin poisoning and liver damage leading to liver failure are the general affects of overdose of asprin.  If you have done this, go to the ER for immediate treatment.

Well you haven't died yet.

That amount of asprin has the ability to destroy your liver. Without a liver you die. You will not feel it, as the liver has no pain receptors. The problems will not occur immediately. If you took all that asprin, GO TO THE DOCTOR.  Harmful? YES and Yes, you can die from this.

Star Queen is correct. But it is the Acetaminophen in the Aspirin that actually causes Liver Damage. You must be Treated Immediately to counteract the Toxic levels if you do not want Liver Damage. Without proper Liver functions, your body cannot filter out Toxins of any sort, Thus, you will end up on Dialysis, or Die. Your Doctor can Palpate your Liver for enlargement, or do Liver Functions testing. I would not wait around.

PS..I might also add that Aspirin acts as a Blood thinner. It is why it recommended to "Prevent" A Heart Attack by keeping the Blood thinned and reducing the chance of Plaque Buildup. Or prehaps more to the point, thinned Blood is less likely to stick to Already built up Plaque. None the less, to much of this can and will be Harmful over time.

acetaminophen isn't in aspirin. They are two completely different drugs.
