15 month old scratches head when hot

by kliane, Jun 26, 2006 12:00AM
My 15 month old has been scratching her head a lot lately mainly it seems when she gets hot, which is often. Her head gets hot and sweaty easily. She scratches so hard that she has a few scabs. Her head is not dry, flakey or crusty. Sometimes when she is hot or tired she will scratch at her neck too. I have noticed while she scratches there are a few bumps (pimple like that form) it only last for a short while then disappear after a day or so but always reoccuring, at least two to three times a day.

For the first time this weekend it seemed to breakout around her eyes causing some swelling and redness and much itching. It went away after a few hours (don't know if it is related).

She is still nursing morning and evening we incorporated organic cows milk in her diet about 2 months ago. I can't see the conection with milk. She has been hot headed since she was born and has scratched at it for about four months since she has grown more hair on her head.

What I have found online close to her symptoms hives.

it may be a hot rash which is fine I have been doing daycare for 9 years and see this all the time go head and put some lotion or even A&d cream that's used for diaper rash on it keep the sweet out and she will be fine with no itching

It ould be heat rash but I'd get her to the doctor to make sure it is not something else, like hives.
