Very odd rash and tiredness

by Archie123, Jul 10, 2006 12:00AM
Hi,

About 6 days ago I started developing a rash on the top of my head and around my left ear. It's not like any rash I've seen described; it's just loads and loads of tiny bumps - whiteish in colour - hardly raised more than 0.5-1mm. The skin underneath has a very lightly reddish colour to it. From a distance it's hard to notice but can be easily seen close up.

The rash has since gone behind my right ear, around the top of my neck and to the underside of my forearms. I can see no signs of the rash on other parts of my face or anywhere else on my body.

The rash does seem to fade some days and then flare up a bit more on others. It itches mildly on the head and around the ears (but not on the forearms).

I also seem to have aching shoulders and a tiredness that I really just can't shake (I usually sleep only 6 hours a night, but I've been getting 9 or 10 and still can't shake the fatigue). The intense fatigue is the most troublesome part of it.

I consulted a chemist who gave me some antihistamines (cetirizine dihydrochloride) which I've been taking for 4 days now. The tablets appear to help reduce the itching, but the rash still remains.

I am considering consulting a Doctor but would like to know if anyone can offer a suggestion as to what this might be. I can only assume it's an allergy to something (I have no known allergies) but I am puzzled by the nature of the rash which does not seem to match the description of any rashes I can find.

Many thanks,

Archie.
