Claritin or Chlortrimeton during Pregnancy

My wife has allergy, and she needs to take Claritin twice a week. We ask a doctor, and she said it shouldn't be a problem. But I want get some more opinions here.
Another doctor told me to switch to Chlortrimeton, because it's been used a long time and so it's safer. Now, my wife is already pregnant for 10 weeks. Although we can do nothing about it now, I still want to see if Chlortrimeton or Claritin would cause big problem to the baby

I have taken Chlortrimeton many times while pregnant. The only side effect (pregnant or not) is sleepiness. It really has no risk. I don't know the risk factor for Claritin. Most allergy medicines really are safe during pregnancy. I also have an Rx for Zyrtec (not Zyrtec-D though). My Dr said it was safe for daytime allergy problems.

The "D" just means it has Sudafed in it. Sudafed is normally ok in pregnancy, but my Dr. said Zyrtec-D was not. I assume it's because the Sudafed is timed-release. This would put into a person's system for extended periods of time. It's probably safe, but hasn't actually been studied much in pregnant women.
