New twist on nickel allergy

by usedtobecatchy, Sep 01, 2006 12:00AM
I've had nickel allergy for ~35yrs since getting ears pierced. I react to the snaps on jeans, buckles on sandals, jewelry, you name it. So couple yrs ago I reached up to adjust the shower head-cheap chrome, getting rusty around the edge. Well, I ended up getting a bunch of tiny tiny metal filings stuck in the fleshy part of my thumb just outside the hangnail area. Now the skin keeps breaking down with insane itching. I need a major debridment to get the metal fragments out. Does anyone know if a very strong magnet like an mri could literally suck the tiny tiny fragments out?
