Dizziness Not From Sinuitis?

by athleet3, Sep 06, 2006 12:00AM
I've been dizzy for 4 months. I only feel it when I move my eyes, head or body. Didn't feel any other symptoms. No nausea, numbness or fainting. General practioner diagnosed me with a sinus infection and filled eustacian tubes. Gave me rounds of anitbiotics and steriods. Dizziness and sinus infection continued, but doc said tubes were cleared. Sent me to an ENT. He ordered an MRI, CT and ENG. They showed a sinus infection and deviated septum (no tumors)but he doesn't feel they are causing the dizziness. So he is sending me to a neurologist. I'm scared to death at what he will find. I'm a 44 yr. old white male in good shape and up until now felt very healthy. I haven't had any head injuries. I'm also frustrated and scared that the sinuitis hasn't gone away. Any ideas? I've never been so worried or depressed in my life. Thank you.

I experience the same.  I was diagnosed with an ear virus, which cannot be treated.  It will come and go (sometimes lasting for a month or so).  I find when I'm tired or stressed, it brings it on.  Get plenty of rest, move slowly when moving up or down, go to the gym and do a light work out (helps with stress).  My went away for almost a year.

Thanks Dietless... Did you at least get medication to relieve the dizziness? Has it come back after going away? I've noticed I've had very dizzy days and not so dizzy days which I don't understand unless your stress idea is correct. I'm seeing the neurologist tomorrow for hopefully some answers.

I was diagnosed with Labyrinthitis 2 months ago. I believe it was caused by an allergic reaction to multiple bee stings. The dizziness is worse when bending over or moving the head. MRI showed slight inflammation in the labyrinith and I was told it will "run it's course". I also lost all hearing in that ear. Although some of the hearing has returned the dizziness has not left. ENT does not want to give me medication as he says my other ear will compensate for the loss of balance. I have seen that some people have suffered with this for years! Hope yours and mine doesn't last that long. Good luck
