Yellowish dry scaly skin and a weepy ear

by remyryo, Oct 20, 2006 12:00AM
I have a newborn son, about 1 month old. I noticed a few things that I'm worried about:

1. On one of his ear lobes and around the ear, there is some bright yellow liquid coming from the skin of the lobe and surrounding areas. It's not coming from inside his ear, it's the skin.

2. On the top of his head, there seems to be some sort of cradle cap starting but it's not the 'normal' stuff my daughter had. His 'flakes' are not flakes at all but look like yellow crystal like sand. There are small patches of red on his scalp and then the yellow crystalized liquid is on top of that. When I rub it, it comes of easily.

3. Between his eyebrows there is a patch of rough dry skin that three days ago was just flaky and yesterday it was yellow and flaky. I took a damp washcloth and gently rubbed it off and applied Vanicream and it's controlled.

Overall, he has little whitehead pimples here and there on his face. We were told by our pediatrician that these come and go but I'm worried that he's allergic to dairy. My two year old daughter is allergic to dairy, egg white, peanut, dogs, and some other things. We found out at four months. She has very bad eczema. I'm curious to know if my one month old's condition is the start of a food allergy.

Many thanks for any insight on this.

My name is Kaela. My boyfriend of 3 years has an 8 year old girl with severe excema. I never knew what it was until I saw her poor skin. It would crack and bleed all the time when we used to cover her in eucerin. I used to wait until she'd been sleeping a bit and then lather more on her. Nothing ever changed. Then I was introduced to a company that only produces botanically based products. My boyfriend and his ex-wife were more than willing to try it out so we began with these few products. I am soo thoroughly impressed with her results that I buy stuff for myself and all of my family. Her cracking and bleeding went away completely after a month and you could see results in just a couple of days. She no longer was scratching in her sleep and wearing band-aides to school. If you want more information let me know I think everyone should use this on their children and themselves. ***@****
