Almost 'vampiric'

by brianneski, Dec 13, 2006 12:00AM
I learned the hard way when I applied 'spray-on' sunscreen to my face, arms and legs several years ago. I haven't been able to use ANY sort of sunscreen/sunblock ever since, nor stay in the sun for more than a couple of hours - or I will have to face the consequences: After 3-5 hours I would appear to have a bad case of sunburn - my skin would look super irritated around the facial area, it would get red and hot, then would start itching like mad. Then a few days later I would get raised 'goosebumpy' things all over my face. My lips would suffer the most - because by this time they would be really irritated by then, like sunburn. My lips would get really crusty due to the oozing clear liquid from under the surface of the skin. Then to top it all off, my ENTIRE face will start peeling like mad. I don't know what the heck is wrong with me. I have tried all sorts of sunscreen/sunblock, even the 'hypo-allergenic' ones but to no avail. I always ended up with a red and peeling face after a few days. And it takes about 1-2 weeks for the process to finish. Like I said, I cannot stay under direct sunlight for more than several hours, especially during Summer.

Can anyone please tell me what sort of allergy I have? I am suffering from it as I type this.

It sounds like you are having an allergic reaction from one of those chemicals in sunscreens.

You may want to consider trying sunscreen w/ natural ingredients (and they have them).. You can purchase this on the internet and/or probably at your local health food store.

Or you may have developed a allergic reation to the sun.  I have heard of it happening later in life.
