Flushing, Sweating, Heat Intolerance?

by xenakis, Jan 14, 2007 12:00AM
I'm just wondering, has anyone out there been diagnosed with any allergies that caused generalized excessive sweating, feeling hot all the time, and flushing? Not a feeling that comes on episodically, but a feeling that's there all the time, at least with minimal exertion.

I've been tested for all the obvious possibilities and have come out negative for all of them (neurological, neuroendocrine, thyroid, etc.). Seeing an allergist/immunologist is a desperate last chance for me. I was just wondering if there's any kind of allergy like this out there. I haven't heard of one.

General allergies such as dust, mold, air quality, etc. can cause the syptoms you describe. My sons and husband always get plagued by it until we have a a good winter freeze. This year is worst because we haven't had a good freeze yet!

I would feel the heat on my face and sweat and feel weird - to finally find out I was having panic attacks!  I had no clue.  They would continue for hours - no, they're not  hot flashes.  But since all your testing came back ok, maybe you can check into that.

I have been suffering with feeling hot in my neck and chest for 3 mos now.  It started with an excessive sensitivity to the smell of soap (even though I used Dial for yrs); I would wheeze, feel dizzy, and have a headache.  I still wheeze now, but not as severely and get dizzy on and off.  When I take a shower, the heat gets worse.  Went to an allergist for the usual tests (he never heard of such a severe soap allergy), tried many different soaps & shampoos (to no avail), went to a GP, Endocrinologist; had blood tests (including thyroid), now a urine test (5HIAA) to check for lung/colon cancer because of the continuous flushing feeling (waiting for the results).  In Jan. I'm going to Shands in Jacksonville, FL (on the best hospitals list) and hope to find an answer there.  Why can't anyone help?  The doctors don't seem to know what's going on.  Any help?  I'm DESPERATE!  My sincere empathy to all those who suffer with allergies of any kind and those who cannot find an answer to their symptoms.
