Can allergies cause constant fatigue, sinus pressures?

by bweb, Jan 20, 2007 12:00AM
Hi there, hope someone has a similar experience, or insights here.

I have posted in the past under undiagnosed symptoms...just wondering if a food allergy or dust, pet, or mold allergy can make someone feel like the "life energy" is being severly diminished.

I often wake up and feel not a sleepy fatigue, but one where it sort of feels like I have a cold or flu in my body...but it does not go away.  This is also not seasonal...it affects me at all times of the year.

This is very annoying and has been affecting my life.  My blood tests (never took allergy tests) have been ok.  Had other tests which also did not show anything.  HELP!!

Thanks!

My Immunologist, who has a Ph.D. has told me that allergies alone can be disabling.

But please read what I wrote on the undiagnosed board about CFS. People who have gastrointestional issues, headaches, heart palpitations, dizziness, constant infections, joint pains and/or muscle pains... may have CFS.

Hi Platelet...where on the forum did you post about the CFS?

I've had similar experiences to yours.  For several months I had dizziness which I was sure lead to a sinus infection, and antibiotics helped but didn't completely cure it.  Just went to an ENT last week and he's certain I don't have a sinus infection and he's set up hearing/ear tests and an appt with an allergist.

Like you, I want to know if the facial pressure/pain, fatigue, etc. can be caused by allergies.  I've been online for a couple hours now and I can't find anything that says facial pressure is caused by allergies, but I'll ask the ENT and allergist of course.  When I hear I'll post what they said.  If anyone else has any info I'd like to hear it too.

Thanks for posting Stacia..

I even had sinus surgery in Sept., thinking it was sinuses (a CT scan showed problems), but this did not stop my symptoms, hence it was not the cause...I look forward to hearing about what you find out.

I also had sinus surgery in November 2002. I was hoping that was the cause of my muscle aches, extreme fatigue, frequent illnesses and other symptoms. The surgery did help with my sinus infections, but I still have ringing in ears, dizziness, extreme fatigue and many other conditions that are very commmon with CFS.

I also have on and off again pain and pressure over my eyes and at the bridge of my nose...

It sounds like saline drops would help you, along with Mucinex (in my opinion, of course). I buy the J's nose drops online --- they sting, but they work wonders and they work better than the regular saline drops.

Thanks for the tip.

Like many of us here I have been thinking about allergies, but I have only developed sinus problems twice in my life - once 2 years ago and then this current bout I have been suffering with since  October/November (you can read my complaints dragging on through the "terrible headache sinus pressure" thread).  I know I am mildly allergic to cats, dust, pollen but nothing significant and it only ever lasts for a short time and is either sneezing or itchy eyes and runny nose.  Nothing like what I have now.   So not only are my symptoms different, how come all of a sudden I am super allergic or having a super allergic reaction when I have not really had a big problem before?

Paulppp did you ever get checked out by an actual allergist?

by Paulppp, Jan 22, 2007 12:00AM
Hi bweb, not as yet - have only just seen ENT last week and off for MRI scan tomorrow...

by bweb, Jan 22, 2007 12:00AM
Let me know what happens...thanks.

Hi Paulppp, I know its a year later that I'm replying to your post. How did you go and did you manage to find out anything regarding your symptoms?

Anyone else?
