Allergies causing dizziness and facial pain

I used to have chronic tonsillitis. After I got my tonsils out the problems seemed to move to my sinuses. I've had numerous sinus infections over the last couple of years, also have facial pain and post nasal drip. This summer I got a sinus infection and then begin to experience dizziness. It's almost like I have constant motion sickness, everything is overmoving and its hard to focus. I've also started to have a lot of jaw pain, sinus pain, ear pain and headaches. I had an ear infection a couple of months ago and my eardrum ruptured. That has healed but still struggling with the dizziness and pain. I grind my teeth at night and got a mouth guard from the dentist. The doctor referred me to a physiotherapist for TMJ. She also has given me some vestibular exercises. Just wondering if anyone else has this kind of dizziness and facial pain with their allergies?

Do this breathing exercise and it will help with sinus, headache and other symptoms which you are having. You will notice symptoms getting less after 4 days.
- Deep Breath-in through left nostril keeping right nostril closed
then  - Breath-out through right nostril keeping left nostril closed
then   -Deep Breath-in through right nostril keeping left nostril closed
then   - Breath-out through left nostril keeping right nostril closed
and repeat this cycle for upto 15 minutes. Maximum 3 times day.
Continue this breathing once a day after the symptoms have gone.
Only by trying you will know.

Yes, I have extreme dissiness at times. It is a combination of my allergies/asthma and some sort of inner-ear dissorder. I have to take some sort of dramamine-like medication for it.

I'd suggest that if the same problem persists. You go to a couple of doctors just to see if they think it might be more than just your allergies.

I know that for the longest time, when I thought it was just allergies, nothing would help. Finding out what the real problem was cleared up the problem.

Deep breathing exercises have definately helped me out.  I notice a difference the days that I do not perform them.  See also my comment I made in the post
"Flu with Asthma." 02/09 I think you should go to your doctor to see if they can figure out what's causing the problem or at least seek an natural alternative.  They are out there because I have used them to help me out. Good luck

Thanks for the responses. I have been to the doctor several times. I've tried meclizine and vestibular exercises. The exercises help a little bit, but not a whole lot. The dizziness is pretty much constant. It's like I can't focus and everything is swimming. I went the the ENT this week. He said I have disequilibrium and oscillopsia, didn't see any obvious nystagmus and wants to do further vestibular testing to determine the cause. Have any of you ever had vestibular testing done? I am a little nervous. I'm told they put water in your ears, which can induce vertigo. I'd feel a lot better if I knew what to expect. The ENT also thinks that I have some hearing loss in my left ear. I also went to the eye doctor. Nothing wrong with my vision. I'm starting to get a little worried. This has been going on since June.

Did you manage as yet to find a solution for this disequilibrium and oscillopsia and constant mild dizziness. I have been having this as well for quite a long time now and all medical investigations have been normal (MRIs, CT Scans, food allergy and intolerance tests, ENT exams, blood tests etc).

For me it is kinda constant but keeps getting aggravated suddenly at times and then stays that way for a few hours.Sometimes I think it happens because of food but the food tests have all been normal.

If I close my eyes, things are fine. When I open it the dizziness begins. But all the neurooptho evaluations have been absolutely normal.

This is also causing a lot of psychosomatic stress for me.

I had many of the symptons you mention. I was going crazy i thought...tough time driving, working...heck just living. I went to ENT did the test with the ears and it DOES make you dizzy. My test came out fine and was told i no inner ear problem. I tried the chiropractor although it was nice to get my back and neck aligned it did nothing for my dizzness. I was losing weight because i just wanted to lay down and no eat just sleep. Several Doctors kept telling me i had crystals in my ear. I spent thousands and I almost gave up in dispare, really.  I came across an article that a tooth problem can give similar symptoms.  I went to the dentist and he said i had a cracked filling.  I came back a week later he drilled and re did the filling. I felt like it was a MIRACLE...the dizzyness was gone.  If you have not gone to a dentist its worth a try. My doctors were shocked that it was my tooth and of course my weekly visits have stopped. good luck i know what its like....

I would definitely suggest the dentist as well. This is a very good point although it does at first seem unrelated. It actually has to do with the meridians in your body, with your teeth being so closely linked with your head in general it can easily effect your brain and how you process information because any information going to your brain has to first go through that pain. That is a very good point Jethro.

Another possible problem is that you are getting a very unhealthy dose of bad air. This can be acquired simply by sleeping indoors every night, and this I found out when I used to have this problem years ago. A colleague of mine told me about how air can actually affect how you live via headaches, and/or symptoms such as what you all are describing. She further told me about Polarized Air Filters and that I should take a look at them. After research I found that they are rather extraordinary filters and should work just fine, which I found out first hand when I purchased them and no longer had the problem with the air in my home. Therefore I readily suggest it to you all as it may help quite a bit to ease these symptoms as it did for me and several others that I've had the pleasure of working with.

The best place for price is at www.airlifeone.com. I'd further suggest the Electrobreeze brand which is essentially the same as the other product listed, but is better for price. One more thing I forgot to mention is, when I contact the company with questions about what they sold they gave me no problems what so ever and were a great pleasure to work with.
