Hives, Contact Dermititis or bites?????

by bizbiz, Jan 27, 2007 12:00AM
I have red itchy spots almost all over my body. This happened to me at exactly the same time last year, and disappeared after a month or so. Now it is back again. I have gone to see three different doctors, one says hives, one says contact dermititis and another says its bites of some sort. I dont think bites as it happened the same time last year. Maybe some sort of a reaction. They look like mosquito bites, and are extremely itchy! They stay red and its for a day, then they go down and become smooth dark red/purple stains and take about a week to leave. Like last year it started in the same way - a small cluster of them on my hips, then as that bunch started going away a new bunch started on my legs, then as they were fading more came around my back. This morning when I took my pyjama's off I had a line of them all around my waist where the elestic had been overnight. I have had these pyjama's for a over a year! Am taking Telfast 180mg, but it doesnt help. Today doctor gave me corto-steroid tablets (25mg twice once a day) to take, but I am a bit worried as I dont think that taking steroids is very good for me. Has anybody experienced anything like this? I dont have them on my arms or face, but they are so itchy they are driving me crazy!!

It's localized hives. You may be allergic to the materials in your jammie bottoms. I'm a Medical Assistant, so this is just my opinion.
