shellfish allergy or sensitivity

by lauraC, Jan 31, 2007 12:00AM
I've had a history of GI upset with shellfish for a long time.  now the last few times ive had lobster my hands itch, and the last time my gums swelled and i had bad stomach cramps, diarhea and dizzyness.  i had a blood test at the doctors and it came back negative.  i researched on-line and it says if you take an antihistmine (which i do-claritan) the result could be a false negative.  should i be retested at an allery specialist?  i'm nervouse about cross contamination somewhere. my mother does have a shellfish allergy.
