Red Bumpy Rash from antibiotics

My son recently had an ear infection, for which he was Rxed amoxicillin. I myself am allergic to any form of penecillin, and was sceptical about giving it ot him. The doc looked through his chart & saw that he had been given amoxi before, so I relented. He has been on it for a week, and yesterday we noticed that he had hundreds of red bumps all over his trunk. Immediately I started benadryl doses. He is not itchy with that, but today he looks like a giant, breathing red blotch. Does anyone have any suggestions for lessening the severe look of these spots? His pediatrician told me to start giving claritin once a day.

Definitely follow physicians' advice. If you feel like you need a second opinion, then call another physician.
You may want to consider taking him to Urgent Care or the ER if you feel you need to.
