searing eye pain

just yesterday i went to sleep, when i woke up i had excruciating pain behind my right eye, i didn't know what was wrong or how it happened, so i went and got a heated pad and put it on the back of my neck this not imeadiately but in a few minutes made the pain go away. i know i can not sleep around the house every day hopeing for this to go away, but what am i going to do when it hurt's so bad, it feel's like someone is literally is pulling and just hitting me in the back of the eye
