Hives are horrid, I have suffered for 6 years. Today marks 2 weeks of no Splenda or other artificial sweeteners for me. I am beginning to believe they played the major role in my outbreaks.  I have been experiencing withdrawal, side effects include headache for days, insomnia and restlessness.

To help your hives apply extreme cold. I use small water bottles that I keep frozen. The frozen water bottles tame down my new hives & cold really does help with the itching. Just remember DO NOT SCRATCH. I know it is difficult but that only makes them worse,  you release more histimine and they grow larger and ask for more..

If you have them on the bottoms of your feet as I did & cannot wear a normal shoe try a pair of CROCS. I put mine in the freeezer & then wear if I must wear something. CROCS also work well to hold  something & you will not ruin them. I slip something cold into the sole while sitting down. A small frozen herbal bag or again my frozen water bottle can rest in the bottom of the CROCS while I rest my foot on top of it.

There is a site on YAHOO Groups for hives, type in search word  chronic_urticaria lots of helpful folks there.

I have chronic urticaria and exercise induced asphyxia.  I hate them.  I have had this for 2 yrs.  Nothing helps.  I stopped wheat, that wasnt it.  I stopped artificial sweetners, not it either.  I have had my thyroid tested, my liver, and everything else.  I am "ok".  I think that it is from taking allergy meds and such.  I have had allergies and asthma forever.  I will find a reason.  I hope.
